Default Rubi-CLONE

This is one of those everybody has one so why not me kinda builds.

Actually I've been collecting up parts for a C2 minded build for a while now, just waiting to run across the right chassis. I haven't found one, so why not keep it simple and bolt it all up under an Axial Jeep body?

I think the Axial JK's are probably the best looking rtr/kit body there is, plus the vendors make some kick ass products for it and I kinda get that "sleeper" thing going.

Most of the parts have been bought/traded for here on RCC, but some have come straight from the vendor or RPP. All I have to show right now are the rolling chassis pics. The body and a few accessories are in the mail.

Axles:

Front-
VP locker
OD gear
Beef tubes
Hand Bros. panhard mount
VP wraith knuckles
STRC wraith chubs
Shortened XR10 uni's
BMRC Ti steering link w/Jato ends

Rear-
VP locker
UD gear
Beef tubes
Gear head 4-link mount
VP lockouts
Some unknown beefy axle shafts

Chassis/Suspension:

SCX chassis
Blue Monkey Ti links (mix of Jato/Revo ends, right at 13" WB)
Hands Bros. CMS (chassis notched and mount moved forward 10mm)
Stainless hardware
PL powerstroke scaler shocks

Trans:

HR cased bomb-proof wraith trans
MIP shafts

Electronics:

Holmes trailmaster 13.5 BL 540 sensored motor
MMP (3s)
Probably a 7950 and BEC

Wheels/tires:

Gear head ONE9 12 holes (flipped and gear head spacers added)
1.9 pitbull RB2's
CI foams

A few pics of what I have going on.

Just wanted to get something up and going. More pics once the body and some accessories arrive.

Got the body in, gave it a rough cut and added the cage and fenders. I did move the fenders up and back quite a bit to allow plenty of room for steering and flex on the long wb. It also gives me some room to run taller tires. Fronts are up even with the hood line and the rears are level with them.

Basic rear bumper with some rc4wd rings and the front is some beat up tube bumper I found in a drawer. I plan on narrowing it way down and seeing how it looks. Might still run the stock bumper, I'm still undecided. I've also been thinking of doing that punisher skull style cut on the grill. I'm sure it has a term but I dont have a clue what it is. Just looks cool.

I plan to do some minor styrene work on the body. Just little things like a hood panel and maybe this eyelid type thing I found on google for the grill. Also going to reinforce all the mounting points because this body seems really thin in spots.

Still not much, but heres a few crappy pics.

Got some R2J sliders and a ScalerFab rear bumper installed.

Waiting on the front bumper to get here and then its time to tackle the paint. I still plan on doing a little styrene hood panel and some inner fenders too.

Thanks fellas. The bumper was made by a buddy here on the site. He did a hell of job considering he didnt have a jeep body to work off of and only got a few crappy measurements from me.

This was the general look we were going for with the bumper. Just with a little stinger.

Haven't touched this one in a little while so I spent an hour or so this afternoon scratching out some inner fenders. Just a simple box but it helps the look a lot with those high fenders. I still have to mount up the passenger side and cut out some rears.

I also got a little paint on the bumper, finally, and got a DSPRO jerry can mount and some sand ladders.

You mean take it off the Shelf!?!?!? Whoa there killa, baby steps.......

Really all I have to do is wire it up and paint it but I keep coming up with these little styrene projects to avoid having to paint it. I have a half built hood panel and roof rack for the sand ladders too.

Started on the rears today....

And did some kind of funny little evil eyes grill thing I saw on Google. Its rough and just tacked on with shoo goo right now. I'm still undecided, but it may look a little better once its all painted. I dunno.....

Just use small pieces of black tape for the eyes. I like the idea but not the extra material.

Thanks for the input fellas. Im not 100% sold either.

This is what the inspiration was. I think the whole grill needs to be done to get it right though.
