WD-40 that sucker before running it in the muck. Keeps everything shiny too

i have an old toothbrush, the more it gets gunked up the better it seems to work cleaning everything, and there is no better way to check for damage after a good beating then cleaning your rigs with a toothbrush

Cool Re: What does everyone use to clean and keep your rigs looking new?

WD-40 before you run it and after make sure to clean and lube the bearings up good especially the drive-shafts don't want it to get squeaky, I use 3n1 oil found at local wal-mart, hope this helps and I use a magic eraser for the body

Tried wd and hate the way the dust seems to be attracted by it. I run wd in the wet seasons but was wondering about a good dry silicon lube? Tried dry graffite spray but just makes an overspray mess.

take it to the self serve car wash. if your tires/wheels are vented you might want to clean them by hand

scrubbing bubbles let it sit for a min then rinse it of good. If its really nasty rinse it really good before the scrubbing bubbles. Then I go through and lube it all up with corrosion x and motorcycle chain wax. It works good its water proof doesn't attract dirt and it doesn't sling off.

Same here. I just take them to work and use a non-OSHA-approved air gun. I don't worry too much about things rusting. I'm prepared to replace screws and what-not, when they get too bad; so I don't worry too much about lube. I do have a bit of marine grease in areas that see more movement (u-joints, driveline slip sections, axles, etc), though. That seems to be preventing them from corroding, so far.

My Slash on the other hand, gets cleaned with a water hose! It plays in mud so I don't keep it exceptionally clean, anyway. I do need to upgrade it to stainless hardware, though.

eezox is a gun lube that drys and protects from corrosion. it comes in a spray but it puts out WAY WAY more then is needed. if you can find it in the needle dropper I'd get that. not sure how it holds up to being submersed but it holds up to pretty good to rain and mists and takes the abuse of a gun. I've used it on my drive shafts to keep them from squeaking without collecting dust, usually lasts a few weekends (with 10-15 hours driving on the weekends, the kids love this thing) before they start squeaking. warning, the crap smells bad, use only outside or in exhausted areas. I sprayed it in my bedroom with good ventilation ( 2 windows in the wall and one in the roof) and it was 3 days before I could sleep there again.

I want to give the chain wax a try when I get to it.

One tip...
Don't use straight Simple Green on the lexan parts. Screwed up and did that on me and my son's Wraiths. Within a week both bodies started coming apart. I blame the Simple Green for making the lexan very brittle.

1 inch paint brush with a rubber band kinda close to the tip and compressed air... i've even used a leafblower once cause i needed to knock the sand outta it in a rush.

I bought a used rig off NissanDriver a few weeks ago, thing was one of the cleanest used rigs I've ever seen == he said he uses Dawn soap and a toothbrush on all his rigs after every run. Definitely got that sucker looking as clean as a new RTR out of the box. All I've ever done in the past was give a wipe down with a wet towel and use air compressor in the nooks and crannies -- soap and toothbrush will be my new method as long as the rig has been waterproofed.

I was reading through the responses and was going to respond until I ran across your post at the end lol. Dawn soap and I a good toothbrush will clean everything. I take everything apart every time I clean my rig which is usually after every competition, sometimes I'm lucky and there won't be any water so I can hit the rig with 150psi compress air with a non-osha approved gun. Scrubbing the tires clean really help keep them sticky and tacky on the rocks, wheels do need to be taken apart to clean foams and let them dry if you are vented.

I sometimes wish I could leave my rcs dirty but my ocd nature doesn't allow me to be like that. But keeping things clean is a good way to make things consistent.

I use a similar method...
but the brush bristle's are stiffer and need no rubber band.

I do not use chemicals for cleaning...
just water generally... sometimes a little dish soap added.

Most of my undercarriage is scuffed/scarred up...
so bling clean ain't gonna happen anyways.
