Default Wheels "stuttering" ...where to start? Video inside...

Hey all,

I built and replaced my links. My rear links were replaced a few days ago and all was well. I replaced my front links (converted to 4 link) and today I have a stuttering in my wheels. (See video below)

I am not sure that it has anything to do with my links at all.

I DID have my motor pinion gear come lose the other day so I took apart the gear box and tightened it down and added loctite.

While tightening down my pinion I noticed a bit of play in the main gear. (It moved forward and back slightly)

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Greg

Can't tell by the vid, could be your lower links are a bit too long and have your drive shaft in too much of a bind. Try shorting your lowers a bit which will pitch your axle up a bit.

If you separated the driveshafts, maybe you didn't align them correctly before reinstalling?

Thiers 2 little raised lines on the driveshaft halfs,,,,those must be lined up with each other or it will cause a stuttering effect in the drivetrain.
I created that same problem before and lining the marks up fixed the problem

I tried Integy shafts and could only get one to work right..I just went back to stock drive shafts.

you can strengthen the stock shafts and they should handle all but the most powerful motors using a 3s battery or better.

searching the net and found that the MIP kit i got 10145 creates a bit of an issue on the Honcho....Im running the proline shocks, I need to get the angle of the axles to point more towards the transmission to avoid the same stuttering as the OP was getting

I really can't believe lining those up two little notches up makes such a huge difference. I first built my Dingo, and by pure luck must have lined those notches up on the shafts. After my first rebuild, I experienced the wheel shuddering, and put it down to general wear on the drive line components. But after reading this thread, I checked my driveshafts too find them out of alignment. Changed them back, and problem is solved...

Thanks guys, taught me to READ the manual properly...

Your lower links are too long. Angles on the drive shaft look too sharp. Lengthen your upper links or shorten your lowers.
That will fix the problem.
Take some pics of it sitting on the wheels. So we can see the drive shaft angles.
