Having fun with the Custom build. Installed a set of axial 90mm shocks on the rear tonight and removed the super long shocks it had on it...The way they were mounted between the frame caused them to rub badly against the frame and not allow maximum travel..Decided to mount the axial shocks on the outside of the frame for much better results. Already cleaned up the trans mount and went through the trans..All is in good shape and ready to work in that department. Now im cleaning up the swivels on the links as they were all rusted out and not allowing any smooth swiveling action and making the movement stiff. More to come soon |

To make it more of a trail truck than a rock crawler as it used to be...Eventually will have mostly scx10 parts on it.

Decided to work all day getting this custom in shape for use...Most all the screws and nuts were showing surface rust...all the links including steering were frozen and wouldn't swivel. I replaced most of the screws and removed all the swivel balls on the links and cleaned them up..The axles are in great shape..The trans is in great shape. I need to do something different for front and rear bumpers and mounts...real flexy and not very well installed. All that's left is to connect the driveshafts. Install some upper shock tower and general chassis braces..,mount a body and hook up some electronics. Fastest build thread on RCC...lol Articulation is pretty impressive for only using 90mm shocks..Its higher than 4 trepador tires/rtr wheels stacked on each other...... .. Did some more work to the truck...Installed the drive shafts and made some shock tower braces that strengthened up the chassis a considerable amount. This is how it should all look..Still need to drill holes in the body so it can be mounted and install electronics. I will more than likely use the electronics im currently using on the Honcho for this truck and go with a HH BR-XL esc and a different servo for the Honcho Ill be switching the honcho over to a spectrum receiver and using the Axial radio/receiever as well on the project. Im finding the larger panther tires to be too tall..When I turn the tire hits the shock pretty badly and its worse with any articulation so for now ill try the trepador tires/wheels. It still looks ok I guess but need something smaller than the 5 inch tall panther tires. |
