Default Battery Location

Hey all! I have a Honcho and a Wrangler, both with the battery up front. I do a fair bit of crawling/trailing on steep inclines and find that when going down hill or across the incline I have a tendency to roll. (I use a 5000mah 7.4 lipo hard case).

How much better is it to place the battery sideways in front of the transmission? Will it roll less? Will I lose some climbing ability? I was looking at the Jevne Racing Ultra Battery Tray.

placing it sideways to the front side seems to be a popular mounting spot...I personally use a saddle pack so I can run the packs the lowest possible on the rock sliders.

Center of gravity will greatly improve and probably not much different climbing...your electronics will take up some of the weight loss up front.

+1 on saddle packs on sliders.

i see alot of people running them sideways and it seems to work out better for the most part compared to the front, i think it would lower your chances of rolling.

I am using the Jevne battery tray on my Honcho, seems to work better than stock front location.

Run it sideways right on the frame rails. Just use the Velcro straps from the stock battery tray and Velcro it right on. I have run mine this way for a year. No issues with the battery and much better center of gravity.

i've been testing my SCX10 Wrangler with the battery sideways and putting weights on the rock rails. So far this set up works great.Less chance for roll over on off camber side hills.

I've seen people bolt the battery tray right to the receiver box where the ESC would originally attach on the box. That would seem to work well.
