| Universal axles (Axial)... grease or no grease
Just installed a set on my scx-10 They didn't come with grease in the package. I was thinking if I grease the cv joints... it would act like a dirt magnet thus allowing more wear to them !? What's your opinion ? |

Dry lubricant of your choice - stuff like chain wax, silicone lube, etc

Agree..grease a bad idea....I shot mine with WD40 then wiped them off and hit them with some air to get the liquid out of the crevices...More of a rust preventer than anything.

ive never greased anything exterior-axle, its a next level dirt magnet and does more harm than good IMO x2 with the wd40 and hard compressed air, thats about the extent of my joint greasing. |

Anyone use spray on graphite ? I likely won't do anything until they need cleaning. ? for anyone that runs the Axial universal axles... what wears faster... the pins or the axle's cv holes (where 'da pins go thru) ? Any failures ? |

I clean mine and put a drop of Trinity bearing oil on them before each run. no grease,no WD-40.. WD-40 isn't good on anything that see's a lot of RPM's..it gets hot and gets goopy(because it has no viscosity),which attracts dirt..which is no beuno. a good read on it.. Can WD40 be Used as a Bearing Lubricant? "Keep in mind that WD40 is manufactured and marketed as a household lubricant for those "small jobs" or as a rust remover." It also soaks into pores and resist water that creates rust..simply spraying it on and wiping it off dry will not make it prone to collecting dirt..At least mine doesn't..Ive used it on 1/8 scale buggy and truggy axles with way way more rpm than any trail truck will ever see and never a failure or premature wear due to dirt sticking on a dry shaft..I agree its not for bearings though...For those I use Acer bearing lube. | |

I wouldn't use WD40 on anything I own.

I use Breakfree CLP. It's a gun oil that is used primarily in AR-15's and M-16's. It does collect a little dust but it kind of "suspends" it and keeps it from grinding up the friction points on the moving parts. My CVD's and drive shafts hate me when I run them dry. This has worked well for me over the last 5 years.

I like wd-40 and i use it on lots of things, but it should be call fish piss, not lubricant. use a 3 in 1, or the new dry lubes, metal to metal should always have lube, it helps break in and wear.

| Re: Universal axles (Axial)... grease or no grease x2, ive used wd40 on all my rigs, short course, electric 1/8th buggy, bashing etc, and i love it, but im definitely on your side, its not a CLR but its good for quick cleanup.

| Re: Universal axles (Axial)... grease or no grease Lol... funny you say that... prolly works better as an attractant then a lubricant... ....dust grime, dirt, etc... and fish !? I once saw a guy spraying WD40 on his bait while fishing. Had to be illegal as hell, was my thought... But he did catch more fish using it. (trout specifically) I was using the same bait... and caught nothing that day I gave argument to that person, that day... but I'm no law enforcement officer... So my complaint likely meant little to that guy. |

I use ChainWax. You can get it at any motorcycle or atv shop. It doesn't sling off and it won't attract dirt either. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk |

Funny, my uncle sprayed his fresh water reels with wd40 line and all. He always said the fish liked it. I spray my axles and mips with dry silicone a couple hours before comps, especially before water runs. Also helps to be slippery. |
