Default GTB2 in an SCX10, need motor suggestions!

Won a GTB2 awhile back, and I want to put it to use for a change.
I know it's for short course, but it was free, and it's my only real alternative since my AE-2 ESC fried. (it beeps, refuses to bind, and causes the servo to start twitching erratically)

I'm Mostly doing Trail driving, maybe a rock pile or two but nothing too crazy.

I'm under a tight budget (under $50) and trying to find a good trail brush less motor

I'm leaning towards Turnigy TrackStar 21.5T Sensored Brushless Motor 1855KV currently

Also, what spur/pinion setups work with this setup?

Any advice would be awesome!

Thanks for looking!

Well my AE-2 fried I think, so it's time to start looking at using that GTB-2 again. I know it isn't the best option, but I think it will be alright for trail riding once set up right.

I run a novak 13.5 on my gtb2, I run 90/15 gears, top speed of 5 mph and will climb over anything. I feel it is a great balance between low speed control and wheel speed when you hit very loose dirt and need that extra power.

Oh and I just ran 8 hours and 5 minutes on a single MaxAmps 8000 mah pack 5 days ago on a rough trail on that set up and everything worked great.

High speed motor with low gearing? I assume at that long of a run time your motor isn't burning a hole through the truck. I always figured lower was the way to go for trail trucks... I'll have to look into the gear changes however thanks!
