+1 on the Solar D772. Just waterproof it yourself...it's easy.

| Re: Best steering servo? Since around spring time. I use it on everything now. Servo boards, sensor boards, receivers, and speed controls. I have even been thinking about doing my 4pl since I use it when it's snowing out.

X2 on the D772 Best MG/HT servo on a budget. JMO I used NeverWet on the D772's circuit board... then coated the majority of the servo's external case with spray on plastic dip. Then I packed some extra grease inside the upper case in and round the output gear/bearing. After the interior circuit boards and external plastic dip coatings... put a shock O-ring over the servo's output shaft (exterior). with that seated in some grease to help with the seal. The servo horn sandwiches the O-ring between the case and itself. The added grease creates a decent seal there. ^ I use a clamping style/type servo horn. This allows a tight tolerance... but does create drag/friction. So far no issue when splashing about... Tho' I must admit I have not submerged these components fully as of yet. If the servo leaks and/or fries... was only $17.00 I used the NeverWet on all my other electronic circuit boards as well. ...ESC, BEC and RX * For the BEC... removed the shrink wrap first... coated the circuit board with the NeverWet 2 step process... then re-shrunk some tubing on that to protect it from abrasion. I also sealed up the ends with plastic dip. Then all but the ESC fits into a sealed electronics box (added measure). If the ESC fries... would give me reason to purchase the SW3 |

Just for the record, so the op can make an informed decision, never wet is not made for electronics. The conformal coating I linked above is made for electronics.

A quick look at YouTube shows it working while submerged. applied incorrectly... it could be a fail. But that could be said for any product.

I use the Solar D771 on my SCX10. D772 was too slow for my liking. I do use a bec too to bump the voltage to 7.2 just under what the servo is rated for.

The best waterproof servo and just a waterproof servo that will fit your needs can be two different things...DO you run big 2.2 tires?..Is your rig heavy with modded steel and aluminum parts? Do you use high steer knuckles?...In all honesty a stock servo is plenty of power to turn your truck without any special needs for a super strong servo. If you want a waterproof a few companies make them in different price ranges...The most common servo used is a Traxxas 2075..Its not a power house of a servo and it doesn't have metal gears but its a well proven waterproof design that has satisfied many for its intended purpose. As some have already said its not difficult to waterproof basicly any servo...you can take any 35-40 dollar servo that's even better than stock and make it work for you in water. The savox 0251 is the strongest servo I know of in that price range and its more than you need. Hitec HS645MG is a very popular servo and has been around before anyone ever heard of savox servos...Its not as strong but its plenty strong and reliable. Obviously the BEST waterproof servo will be the most expensive one you can find in many eyes...All though overkill seems to be a growing trend in the rc world. When it comes to the actual power of a servo you get usually 2 ratings...one at 4 volts and one at 6 volts. If you buy a servo that says its 200oz of torque at 6 volts but your esc is only providing 5 volts to your esc its not going to be as strong as it advertised rating for 6 volts. So keep that in mind. A lot of servos now have three ratings...4.8v, 6v, and 7.4v.

The savox waterproof with 277 oz isn't bad but doing some waterproofing on a higher torque servo may fit your needs better if you want more power. I've been running a d772 on 8 volts for months. Plenty strong and it is much faster than it was at 7.4 go figure. |

Well i have to say its nice to see such a low dollar item perform as good as some name brand over priced stuff..The type of stuff i like now a days Youd be surprised at how much some low dollar items are sufficient enough as upgrades...Too bad more don't see it that way in some situations.
