So after my comp on Sunday with the wraith I found myself lacking fun. While the wraith is fun to bash and all it lacks doing both crawling and high speed good (without a lot of money and time put in it). I watched the C1 and C2 rigs run remembering how much fun my SCX10s have been over the years. So Monday we picked up a new honcho body as I can't bring myself to beat on my hilux hard body. Named Scrappy mainly because it was a bunch of parts laying around I haven't paid attention to in a few years. So yesterday I was tinkering and after an hour or so I had this. Plans this far are to run a Dinky interior and bedside kit. It has a Hand Bros CMS 3 link kit in front. Still trying to decide on shocks. Might just run the stock rebuilt shocks on it unless there is better. Haven't decided on electronics yet but thinking motor wise somewhere between a 27t to 35t and probably a stock Axial esc. Love the look of the tires but might make the Pitbull switch. Overall building this to run C1/C2 with a simple tire swap hopefully. I blame Hotwheels000 for getting me to play with these again and the builds getting out of hand. |

IMO the rtr ESC works fine when using a 2s LiPo Owning the Castle link allows finer adjustments to that ESC. ^ (ie: 100% drag brake, etc.) The stock rtr Servo (gears) might last longer with output shaft bearing replacement. As well, a decent job of water proofing that, is a must. Steering power is acceptable for 1.9 tires (for most). I'd think to run a 35T or possibly a 55T using a 3s LiPo (<--BEC rqr'd). 35T if wanting more top end... 55T if wanting a smoother low speed torque. If using 2s... I run the 35T for slower work... 27T for faster speeds. Mtr. gearing needs be addressed as well. and choosing a proper pinion gear is dependent on what spur tooth count and pitch type will be utilized. The mtr. needs be geared to it's specific demands. How fast do you expect/wish to roll ? I have the Dinky bedside kit on mine as well... They tend to crack at the corner just above where tail lights would be placed. ( I just used a little CA. to hold ) I also have a Rr. bumper... prolly be worse without that. 'cept for the possible cracking... the D'y besides hold up purdy well to abuse. I purchased a new Honcho body, used cage and bed... and plan to repaint another Honcho as a spare. The original body and D'y bedsides are going to get the exterior paint treatment. Once done... will have a show ~n~ shine body... and another that looks good while it gets thrashed Or maybe I just thrash them both !? Lol I think I just get tired of looking at the same color all the time ------------------------- Please do a write up on the Dinky interior install... I may use that one as well. And want to see how that is fitted into the interior of the Honcho... before I spend that kinda of money. Last edited by TacoCrawler; 12-04-2013 at 05:43 PM. |

For batteries I only run 3s lipos and have for years on all my scalers with 27t-55t motors. Gearing is the key to make them live. As for the servo it will be 300+ oz torque. This isn't my first go around with SCX-10's ( I have 3 more in parts on my bench ). This was just something I could toss together and compete easily along with not get mad for beating on it when I get bored of the wraith. I've used a lot of Dinky products over the years and haven't had any issues with tearing the bed but I did add a few mounting screws to take the pressure off of it being a support and moving. |

It's all good since it will be another Honcho build just like the rest with a twist. I honestly have never ran a 2s in any of my comp crawlers or scalers. Went from 7 or 8 cell packs straight to 3s and occasionally 6s.

| Re: Scrappy You should try a 2s..just gear down a little more... a tooth or so...Mush easier on your drivetrain and still more than enough power. |

you should stop buying those "girly" 2s LiPo's and get on the manwagon with a 3s 2s is boring... and is better left for newbies and kids whom are afraid and/or drive badly !? Lol just giving you grief I run a 2s LiPo with my brushed 9T in muh old ae B2. 2s makes that motor spin like it's on steroids !

Since this will see 3s and bigger batteries I decided to do some preventive maintenance. I got a sweet surprise from TCS. My cvds showed up a day earlier than the delivery date . Today the body is being painted. Being that redneck hunter Dan is driving this what good way then a old fashioned spray bomb paint job. |

Been busy working on my son's cherokee and girlfriends JK so mine has been kind of crawling along. Anyways Hunter Dan had an amazing bonefire over the weekend. Came home from the zoo lights to see people passed out all around the rigs and spray cans laying around. Guess they decided to spray bomb the truck. (camera doesn't do it justice since you can see the white bleeding through and see the texture as if a drunk fool did hit it with spray paint ). Dan was mad he couldn't fit in the Dinky R/C interior so he let his friends drive. Mounted the interior with the bottom 2 cage bolts and velcro on the side so it will have easy removal for cleaning. Also received my Flip Your Lid Brackets from Duuuuuuuude. These brackets are awesome. I don't like the unfinished look of no bumper or shall I say "roll pan" on a offroad rig so I fabbed up a bumper mount that works perfect with the brackets. Trying to decide if I'm going to keep the swampers or switch over to Rockbeast II since they work so well on my wraith. Motor will now be handled by a Holmes 7T puller on 3s since my thread was wrecked with 2s talk. |
