Default Scx10 tires

Should I keep the stock tires or should I go after market?

Looking on amain, top two sellers are the proline super swampers sx xl and the HB rovers. The rovers look more attracting due to price. You guys thoughts?

Thx

Tires are personal choice thing. personally I like the more scale (realistic) looking tires. Just because a tire is cheap does not mean that it will perform well. The Super Swamper is a great 1.9 tire and is one of my personal favorites. So my advice is to spend some extra money and get a good tire. You may also want to spend some time in the wheel and tire section as you probably find tons of usefull information there!

Besides looks, what are the difference in wheels?

I heard a few good reviews once HB tires. Wanted to get a comparison.

The rovers are going to be more of a crawler specific tread. They will most likely perform well in rocks. I have never run the rovers so can not personally attest to their performance. I have used the swampers and can say they perform exceptional in rocks and dirt. I have crawled some pretty crazy lines with them. so comparison wise i would say they should be pretty close to one another in the rocks.

Just from reading on here, most popular are pitbull rock beasts. Them and what rubicon said, baja claws, I have to say though I do see the rock beasts recommendedbfor performance over any other scale tire. And trust me I read alot on here. You can even find pics of wheel/tire covered boobs if you look hard enough

Pitbulls definitely get good reviews..Ill be trying a set myself soon.

You said your stock tires...So you have a rubicon or a honcho?.

The Honcho stock tires (Ripsaws) ive personally found to be very good tires..Ive tried the trepadors and proline flat irons and always seem to go back to the ripsaws.

What terrain you most frequent will help determine whats best for your particular application.

Don't forget foams as that is just as important as tires themselves...The wrong foams in a good tires means a bad combo and doesn't work well.

I cant recommend foams but Look on here in the vendors sections and look for Crawler Innovations...He will get you going in the right direction.

Make sure you know your vehicles weight and some other questions he may ask you about your truck to select a good foam.

As far as wheels your stock wheels will work but you can benefit from a basic set of beadlocks...Youll get a lot easier tire changes and in most cases the bead locks can help support side loads on your tire..Giving better bite and maybe that little difference in rolling over or not on a side hill.

A basic Axial 8 hole beadlock set is better than the stock wheels but its not a must have.

Hope this helps.

I have the g6

Are the pitbull rock beasts a larger profile than stock g6 tires? Where can I find them cheapest.

The G6 use trepador tires if im not mistaken...They are more for an all purpose design as the pitbulls will be.

Crawler Innovations has pitbulls with standard foams for just under 60 dollars...They are just standard foams but should be better than the stock foams I would imagine..The height is within a minimal difference height wise if any...they fall somewhere between the ripsaws and the trepadors I think..so they are a good fit height wise..

I bought a Jeep JK from a fellow RCCer and he put new Rok Lox 1.9 Comp Tires.

They look sweet with the Gear Head rims!! http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/gea19tkezd.htm

Better yet, if you do get the Rock Beasts from Crawler Innovations, get the combo with the Deuces Wild foams. You won't regret it.

Im thinking they are...Some tires are rock specific...Some are mud specific

SOme may be double duty etc....Pitbulls are based on real off road tires for a number of tasks..these are also but these seems to get great reviews in most general off road purposes.

I see them

These are the exact pair right? Will these work as multi-purpose as well?

Always talk to them first as specific set up can make a difference in a recommendation by them.

In other words tell them what you have..if they recommend that tire foam set up then go for it.

I don't understand the beadlock wheels. Do they not sell them complete? Looking on VP, it looks like u need to buy them separate.

Do they have plastic beadlocks?
