I bought and built the SCX-10 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon Kit with the Icon shocks, the only step I did differently then the instructions show, is I used Team Associated Green Slime to build the o-rings and I also put slime on the threaded end of the shock shaft before gently inserting it into the o-ring/shock body. I basically followed Joe Ferguson's videos on his build of the G6 see video here Axial SCX10 Jeep Wrangler G6 Shock Build - YouTube.

And my kit is fully assembled and zero shock leak and this is after some time, dunno if i just got lucky or if the slime helped.

I wish I could find the old thread on getting the original plastic-bodied SCX shocks to hold oil. Involved using another manufactures O-rings and guide washers I think.

Cause my Icons leak like a sieve, even with 70 weight oil, Green slime, teflon taped threads, precisely torqued caps and seal retainers. I'm fairly OCD and meticulous with small parts, and they still won't hold oil for even a couple hours of trail-riding.

But I kind of expected that seeing as how my original AX-10 had leaky shocks, my first SCX kit had leaky shocks, and somehow the Wraith shocks only "seep" lightly.

I just rebuild a set of Proline Power Strokes, and a set of stock SCX10 shocks using Lucas Red-N-Tacky #2 Multi-Purpose EP Grease and new O-rings and the replacement parts from the rebuild kits I bought. no leaks and have been used a few times pushed hard and no leaks.

Ive tried a few things in the past on alot of shocks. The Associated Green Slime works wonders and Teflan tape does help to seal up the threaded areas pretty well. Sometimes the small detail of the o-ring in the cap top gets forgotten as well. It needs to have some Slime put around it to help it work better. I have built alot of shocks and own the 2012 Jeep kit Axial sells, and Ive driven the tar outta the thing and its not leaked on bit on me. And its had mainly hard trails that its ran on. So Id say go back and tear each cylinder apart and just look at each part carefully. Then just take care in rebuilding each one.

I built mine to the letter like I've done so many shocks before them and the bottoms were wet 10 minutes after install.

i built mine like joe f did wit the slime and they hold oil fine on the shelf but go drive it and about 1/4 of the oil is gone after 4 hrs of driving. I had an RC10 in the early 90's that had awesome shocks and didn't leak. I liked that cartridge design a lot better than axials, it works better too. I'm just looking for an aftermarket shock w/ a better reputation.

I built my kit in January with a little green slime and haven't had a leak since.
