Default G6 servo mount 4 link binding

To everyone that has a G6 kit. You may want to take a 2nd look at the space between your servo mount plate and your upper link bars. Mine a making contact with the servo plate. To fix this I used the 2 pacers that came in the pack with the kit I just put them under the servo plate to get the extra space needed. I found this on my kit and i hope it helps others.

I noticed during the build that the servo mount and the upper links were really close, but I lowered the suspension as low as it could and it seems to just clear. I could see it rubbing having more suspension lift.

Good idea with the spacers.

I also built a G6 kit and the servo also hits the frame brace that the battery tray screws to. I removed the brace which gave it more flex and i havnt had any problems with the battery tray.

Im not runing the front battery mount for that same reason. Mine is at stock ride hight and it was dead on the rod end. I would like to run the servo on the axle but may do the C.M.S. like I have done on my other trucks. When I get most of my parts in I will then start a build on my g6.

I ended up grinding down the cross brace that got in the way of the servo, just enough to still have the strength for the battery mount up front. I think it will be fine that way. Seems stiff enough. I did not have the problem of the struts hitting the servo plate. Just paint and body stuff left. The rest of it went pretty good.

Tihis is what i did to stop the link bars from rubbing the servo plate. I cut some of the servo plate of as the rear mount hole is not used.
Its about 1/2" you need to cut off

Is anyone having this problem with their G6 kit? Where my upper steering link attaches to the provided axial servo horn runs into the cross brace of the chassis and prevents a little more suspension travel when you compress both front shocks at the same time.

Is this common or did I out something together wrong?

Here is a pic of the contact...

It will probably never reach that point under it's own weight. You can notch the crossmember a little if it bugs you though.

Thanks for the reply. That's a great point I didn't think about that. I was just curious if this was typical on the G6 kit build.

I do get full range of motion during full articulation so that is all that matters.

That happens in all axials with the 98mm front links. Most people dont run that front brace but if you have the battery in front You have to have it. I just notched mine so it dont hit.

Thanks for the information. I appreciate it. Eventually I will relocate the battery to the middle but for now it stays.

the cross member issue sucks. First i ground it down to clear the servo arm

Then I built a mount to clear everything

Then i relocated the battery all together, and eliminated the cross member completely

Yeah I finally just notched enough I the cross member for the screw head to pass by. I will eventually make my own mount and move the battery to where you have it in the last photo

I just removed the cross member all together. I made a new battery tray out of lexan and now have the battery lay across the chassis behind the shock hoops.
