| Beadlocks!!
ive done some searching and have yet to find what i'm looking for. I got the rubicon RTR for christmas and have been modifying it since I got it. I'm really wanting to get some beadlock's but cant make up my mind. I'm on sort of a budget so i'm not looking for anything vanquish, i know all about them. I plan on getting something either black or chrome and just painting the ring. I have seen the Vaterra Twin Hammer wheels are beadlocks and that LockedUpRC make some rings that will work, has anyone used these wheels on their crawler? if so can i get some pics and i'm open to anyone with suggestions, throw them out there and i will check them out for sure. Also can I use my stock tires? even if they used to be glued on? Thanks!!

If the backs accept a 12mm hex they will bolt on to the scx10 hubs. If youre on a tight budget maybe look at the axial 8 hole beadlocks..Pretty common as they hold up well and aren't costly. They don't come with the most fashionable rings but you can upgrade to better ones. Heres a pic of axial 8 holes in silver with the optional axial beadlock rings. The anodizing was sanded off the rings to give it the raw aluminum look. Last edited by 6sharky9; 01-07-2014 at 03:45 AM. |

| Re: Beadlocks!! Ebay, local hobby shop, your favorite online store..Proline is a pretty common brand..Most here would recommend a different model of proline tire though and the popular HOT tires are Pitbull brand Rockbeasts

Forget about the Vaterra wheels. They have a VERY wide bead groove and I can't imagine them working with anything but the stock Vaterra tires. Axial plastic bead locks are great rims. I've had great luck with these wheels and they've never let me down. That is what I would go with. The Trepadors should fit just fine on them if you can get them off the stock wheels. I'm still irritated with Axial for abandoning the bead locks. I've used these wheels(I think I have 4 sets?) on at least 5 different trucks and a have mounted a bunch of tires on them over the years. These rings I let soak in greased lightning and then polished them. Axial 1.9 8 Hole Beadlocks - Satin Chrome (2pcs) Last edited by Jus; 01-07-2014 at 10:05 AM. |

I really like the proline eight shooters I have on mine...look similar to the axial eight hole ones..but I like the lock ring better on the prolines..however the ones I have are 2.2 rims

Went with the wheel/tire combo, modded the foams a bit and weighted 3oz/1oz f/r. Surprised me. Did a pretty good job on the rocks and on the trail. Pretty good budget set-up. |

Get the RC4WD steel wheels you cant go wrong for the price I have the 8 hole on my RTR Rubicon, they are ok but i think i might go with the RC4WD stamped wheel you can try debonder to get your glued tires off you just have to be careful as to how long you let the debonder sit on plastic as it can eat right through it |

Boiling the tyres and rims also helps get them off

I like my rc4wd steel wagon wheels, I have them on my scx and had them on my old wraith. Downside is you need to make sure the bead / rim is compatible, best way to do that is stick with rc4wd brand tires. I run the super swamper Boggers. Good stuff !

I picked these alloy beadlocks up off EBay for 45.00 shipped the overall quality is quite nice but the hardware is ok at best. |

I'm using the stock Axial Chrome 8 Holes that came on the truck. I painted them gloss black and fitted some copper beadlock rings I made at work. This is how they looked when I first did them. |

But I'm not sure if Axial rims are made from the same material.

Be careful with the rc4wd steelies! ! You can run into tire fitment issues with regards to the bead not staying seated. Look on ebay and you may find some axial rims with tires for a decent price. Gear head makes delrin rings to give them a unique look.

The chrome was effected, loosened and rubbed off when I touched it, so don't let them sit in the acetone so long or be careful not to touch the chrome when removing the tire. As a test, I did take one off cleanly and let the acetone evaporate, the chrome did re-adhere to the rim unaffected. I of course re-soaked and removed the chrome later so they would all match, but it is doable.
