Default Project 4 door scx10 Hilux.

So I decided to embark on my very first body build, I decided on a 4 door Hilux, not a lot of those floating around and I already had one Hilux body so why not. This is my very first build of body work and joining so it's not the best craftsmanship you will see but I'm giving it my best, beware, ha. I use Tenax 7R plastic welder to bond the plastic together.

In this picture group I have the bonding finished and made brackets for the drip rail, next up, bondo! More pictures to come.

This is how my SCX10 sits now.

Just need my winch to come in, the windows and my motor and a few more scale accessories and I'm done with this project, ready to hit the trails.

I like seeing something other than the f350 being stretched.
Great work arctichorse.

How did you attach the body to the Axial frame?

Thanks guys, I really dig the long wheel base instead of bobbing it like it's suppose too. I attached it using Velcro up front, I just cut two holes for the body posts in a sheet of aluminum and cut it to size then pinned it to the body post then stuck Velcro on the underside of the hood then drilled two holes in the bed for the body posts.

Took my rig out for the first time with this body, got my side mirrors and windshield wipers glued in, waiting for some more stuff for it to come in.

Maybe I missed it, but what is the wheelbase? I was thinking about doing the Hilux body on my Trail Honcho chassis. I'm guessing the stock Hilux will be too short for the Trail Honcho chassis.

BTW, nice job and nice pictures.

Thanks man. Wheel base is a straight 15" inches for my 4 door, it's less when you bob the front part of the bed like the real one, the single cab one is like around 11.3" inches(?), the Dingo wheel base basically.

Those are the factory mounting points for the standard body, he probably just forgot to fill them up...

Thanks guys.

So I had to move the transmission back farther, a wheel base like this and the drive shafts were starting to bind up due too height and angle problems, I had to cut my 9" drive shaft sense I have that weird wheel base length where the next size down shaft is too small and the 9" one is too long, also got some stuff for the bumper, a little bit of bumper porn.

Love the 4 door hilux. My understanding is they were an Australian thing, and they were all right hand drive!
