Default What gearing should I choose 48p to 32p

My scx10 is running a HH Crawlmaster 3014 1000kv brushless motor with a CC sidewinder V2 on 2s Lipo with 15/88 gearing. My new spur was grinding against my MIP yoke and took itself out along with my pinion. I am considering going to 3s soon. Since I need to get a new Spur/pinion I am thinking about just jumping to 32p would 10t/57t be good ?

I run 3s with the 48p stock plastic gears.

I haven't had issue with mine...

but if the motor were to shift...
the spur/pinion mesh will become fubar
that would likely shred the plastic gears quick.

Did your motor shift on it's mount ?
Something caused the failure
and it's not because of the 48P or plastic gears.
^ at least from my experience.

Were you happy with the old ratio? You are proposing going from 5.9:1 to 5.7:1 so if you liked it before it will still be pretty much the same.

If you wanted to keep the same spur......use one of these and no more issues with the MIP yolk hitting the spur gear.

To resolve the MIP hub hitting the spur you need to get the longer hub that is used on the Wraith. MIP 5mm Drive Hub, Long, Axial Wraith #11117

I use the I am using the DuraTrax Spur Gear 32P 56T Nitro Evader BX DTXC9397 in my Honcho. It works without any modification and the spur cover fits over it without any issues.

Then use a 32P 9 T pinion and you will be really close to your original gear ratio.

The motor never shifted, I have a aluminum spur and hardened steel pinion. So when the spur rubbed the yoke it bent teeth down and the pinion started to gunk up.

Yes I liked the 15/88 combo it crawled great but I wanted more wheel speed thus the wanting to jump to 3s . I went from a 3600kv bl motor with 23/87 gearing to 1000kv and 15/88.

Thanks I'll have to order that longer hub today.

If you want to change pitch but keep close to the same ratio. Take the number of teeth on your original gear decide that by your current pitch.

Example: 87/48=1.8125

Now take that number and multiply it by your desired pitch.

Example: 1.8125x32=58

Same formula can be used for any pitch. Good luck!
