Default MIP driveshafts limiting shocks

Hey Guys I'm new to this hobby of scale crawlers and my first rig I picked up the Axial G6. I have 110mm King Shocks on it and last night I put on the mip driveshafts. After the install the mip shafts do not have enough angle from the transmission to the axles. This causes the shocks to not fully extend. Is this normally? I don't think I put them on wrong. Please let me know if you need anymore information to answer my question. Thanks in advance.

Shocks are too long imho. Even 100mm shocks tend to be a little long. To fix this you can do a few different things. 1) you can get a lowering kit that just extends the shock hoops. 2) you can open up the shocks and put limiters in. 3) you can put straps from the frame to the axles to limit the ride height or 4) get shorter shocks.

If it were mine i would go with #4 and get a set of 90mm shocks. But that would entail taking a loss $ wise.

If you are building it that tall you will need a u joint style shaft.

Yes sounds like the shocks are too long which is why your binding. You will need to limit the shock travel or get shorter shocks. Try putting spacers under the shock piston to limit it. Use your stock shocks length, to help you find the right length. They can be a tad longer like 100mm but try to stay at or under 100mm.

Thanks guys for all the replies! Would it hurt if I drove my truck like this? I plan on limiting the shocks or getting new shocks but I was just wondering if it would hurt my truck while I waited on the new setup.

You would put excess ware and stress on the pivot point of the shafts. The MIP shafts are strong, so ya might just have a bit of ware without breakage. It's a risk though.

I wouldn't if I were you. It would just put stress on everything. Driveshsftd bearings and such. Just not worth the risk to me.
