| Brushles scx. Yes/no
Looking to upgrade my scx 10 to brushless. Would you say that a 18,5T motor would work on the stock setup or do I need to get a new pinion gear. Or is it gonna be all wrong altogether? The resin I am asking is that I have a Novak 18,5t in my losi comp crawler and I am looking to sell that chassi, so I figured why not swap over the motor to the scx. I do mostly light trail crawling with the rig so sped isn't a must but hey it wouldn't hurt. |

If you want some speed an 18.5 may not do it for you..Maybe a 13.5 if you want some speed..Gearing it down some to compromise for low speed control and still have good speed is always a welcome change. | |

No !!! don't do it. The brushless works well in a lcc because of the worm drives but for the SCX axles its not so good as a brushed system. The brushless system in a SCX needs to be sensored and don't get it anywhere near water.

Yes, it would work. You can waterproof the motor by covering the sensor board in the motor with liquid tape. -Corrupt |

I run a mmp pro with a 9.5 Lrp sensored and 2 speed from rc4wd on my scx frame. I have no issues great crawler gear and short course fast 2nd lol. I also have used brushless on scx transmissions's but recommend sensored. Sensorless to me acts like you have no control throttle response sucks basically. I see nothing wrong with brushless sensored system in a scaler ;)

It is a sensored motor in the LCc of course so that would not be a problem. I was thinking more in the lines of " I don't want to ruin something on the truck becous there is to much power from the motor..." But I guess I can run it responsibly to start with. ^^

I'm running a MM Pro with a Tekin Redline 17.5 on 3s with stock gearing (14/87). Works fine.

I'm running a Holmes Hobbies 11T crawlmaster pro , 87/16 on 2s and it's plenty fast on 3s it's pretty silly . I'm staying brushed cause I'm bound to hit the water. To each his own, most of all HAVE FUN! tear it up and rebuild different next time.

I run sensored brushless in everything. I love it. It stays cool, has gobs of wheelspeed, and more torque than you'll ever need. Parts are going to break eventually either way. Your 18.5 might not have much wheelspeed so it shouldn't result in many broken parts. If you want more a 13.5 or 10.5 will give you a good boost in speed with little loss in torque and battery life. Im running a Tekin RS with a brushless 13.5 and love it! I had a 17.5 in it and it was a little to slow for my likings.... 13.5 is the way to go!

I run a Hobbywing Juststock esc and Reedy 17.5 sensored motor, stock SCX gearing and it has enough torque and wheel speed to suit me. I love brushless power systems.

I got two Sensored Brushless SXC10's running Castle MMP esc's and 13.5 T Tekin Redlines motors, bought aluminum tranny cases, and 32p spur and pinion gears, Robison racing metal tranny gears, Axial metal drive gears and hardened steel output shafts in the tranny's and hardened steel input shafts in the axles, they are the thru hole type so there perfect for my MIPS CVD's Center drive shaft kits. I have not installed under/over drive in axles, not sure if needed yet. and love them both but need to water proof them cause I don't run them in wet conditions ever, but that's just me.
