I got some goodies in the mail today Crawler Innovations closed cell TSL XL foams, some JeepinDoug spring cups and a 17t pinion. I picked up the TSL XL'S last week at my local hobby shop (RRW Hobbies). Boy these foams sure feel firm, but im used to comp crawler foams?? Now im just waiting on my wheels, which should be here tomorrow |

So i got my Rc4wd steelie wagon wheels last night. They were the last piece of the puzzle for my new tire/wheel combo. Went with the wagon wheels and Super Swamper TSL XL's. I also got Crawler Innovation single stage closed cell for the TSL XL. I read in here in a thread that if you use the VP 1.9 omf ring the Proline tires work with Rc4wd wheels. So i gave it a shot. Added 2oz front, 1oz rear to each ring. I also notched the CC foams, so the weights didnt hamper the foam from doing its magic. I also trimmed the two inner rings on the front foams, to soften up the front tires. Ive never put together inner beadlock wheels before, damn what a pita!!! But after a while they were all mounted and ready for action. Absolutely love the look of this tire, big n beefy Heres what the foams looked like after notching for the the weights Heres how i ended up mounting the rim halves together (long 2mm nuts n bolts) Then i installed the "lug nuts n bolts". Kick ass tires/wheels here are the TSL XL compared to Terps. just a tad taller than terps, but lots wider. Well i was still sceptical about the bead holding. So i took the jeep with me to work. I was able to give it a little shake down at lunchtime. Everything was good. Beads held strong. And anybody that knows me, knows i have a heavy finger Since all went well at lunch, I went out to a local scale spot after work. I really gotta say, these tires/wheels/foams are great. Im really glad i cut the front foams, i like more bite in the front. These tires/foams ROCK Last edited by billj; 03-14-2014 at 06:28 PM. |

Did a little tinkering today.... First , i was having motor issues. When reversing the motor will cut out sometimes??? So i did a little research, and thanks to Christhebatteryman's thread about programing Castle products. I removed the latest beta software, and installed the previous update right before that. I also set my tx to normal on the motor rotation, and set it to reverse in the sidewinder settings. After resetting it, it completley cured my reverse problems Second, took spacer out of the front links. Since i removed the crossmember that hits the servo horn, there was no need for the spacers. Removing them gave me a better front pinion angle Kinda hard to see in this pic Third...yesterday while testing new bumper i noticed i was hanging up on the tabs for the tow shackels alot I removed the tabs, much smoother now. If i need a tow, i can just hook onto the stinger Forth i installed a ti steering link, i had in my box of junk. Its just a tad longer than the stock steering link. I wanted just a little more throw. Now my knuckles bottom out against the chubs. Got as much steering as i can with this setup And lastly, i had a vibration in the drivetrain. I made sure the alignment marks on the Wild Boar driveshafts were lined up. But still had a vibration. Driving me nuts So i took out the driveshafts again (4th time). And upon closer inspection i notice i installed one of the metal yokes improperly on the shaft. Installed it correctly and shes smooth as silk baby.. Last edited by billj; 03-16-2014 at 03:08 PM. |

Did a little more work today. First i love the Rc4wd wagon wheels, but i hate Pin wheels. So i ordered the six lug hex adapters. I didnt want to lose any of the beads when i changed to the hex hubs, so i zip tied the two wheel halves together. Made it a ton easier to change the hubs I also wanted to widen the track width a bit. Stock track width was 9". With the TSL XL's my track went to 9 1/4". I wanted more, so i added these 1/8" wheel spacers. This brought my track to 9 1/2" . Should help with sidehill stability Wheels look great with the spacers Also installed Jeepindoug spring cups, nothing worse than loosing a spring cup. Also noticed the oil in the shocks was low, so i filled um up. |

Made a few changes last night First i put on a VP spur cover/motor plate, and a 35T Brood motor (both from rcc members). I also took out the 20t pinion, and installed a 17t. Then i installed JC link risers I also got (from a rcc member) some clockable c hubs. Now i have some positve camber Today after work i built some upper links |
