Billj"s G6 Build

Well after years of fighting the scaler bug, I have gotten a G6. Gonna start with the kit, some hardened gears (front/rear/tranny), w/p sidewinder v3, brood 40t motor, hitec 7950, 2s batteries. Any advice or help is always welcomed. "thumbsup"

Start with 16t and go from there.

I skip the 2s and go 3s.

Made a little progress last night. Got it to this point

http://i946.photobucket.com/albums/a...G6build013.jpg

But about 2:30am i ran into this issue. The the cross member hits my servo horn??? WTF did i do wrong? The pinion angle looks good, so the links are right (I think). Thanks in advance for any help. I guess i can just take my dremel and notch it to clear the horn. But im thinking as late as it was, i screwed up somewhere:oops:

Re: Billj"s G6 Build

You didn't do anything wrong, but you did forget to put the spacers in on the lower links......at least from what I see in the pics. They come in a plastic bag with the 1 sheet instructions on where they go. It is easy to over look.....heck I almost missed it! My G6 kit did the same thing where the servo arm hits the brace like yours is doing until the spacers went in. I plan on removing the crossmember mine because now the steering end now hits the brace at full compression. I'm going to run a rear battery, due to the small 2500 mah 3s lipo in the rear of mine the front is still slightly heavier than the rear. I also have upgrade parts coming for mine as well. Axial knows about this problem that's why they give you those spacers to put on the lower links. It still doesn't make up for the issue at hand. But like I said removing it maybe the only solution. If you dremel it down, there may not be enough material left for it to do anything anyways.

Thanks for the help, i didn't even see the other bag. Thanks again for the help"thumbsup"

Re: Billj"s G6 Build

Found the little bag with the spacers for the front links (thanks dwblue00) What a joke that is, Axial could do better:evil: But even with the spacers, the servo horn still hit the crossmember. So i notched it just a tad with my dremel. Everything seems to clear now. But i still only have 12.125 wb. They advertise 12.3, wonder where it short?? Maybe they should of put spacers in for the rear links too, to even it out???

I ran into the same problem with my G6 kit. After reading that I wasn't the only one with this problem, I searched numerous times the spacers for the lower links and it is not even in the instructions. I shaved down the face of the servo mounts, so the servo sit back on the servo plate further and had to notch the cross member with a dremel. Then I filled the cross member with the Propoxy 20 PRO-POXY 20 Epoxy, 4oz. - Amazon.com. Now the cross member is more rigid than it was before and the servo horn has plently of clearance. The advertised wheelbase for the G6 is 12" Axial Racing - SCX10 Jeep Wrangler G6 1/10th Scale Electric 4WD - Kit

Re: Billj"s G6 Build

The G6 only get about a 12" WB. The trucks that get the 12.3" WB are the Wrangler Unlimited, and the Honcho. Dingo has the shortest WB."thumbsup" Now your rod end that connects to your servo horn now will hit that brace full suspension compression.

I was also thinking about shaving the stock servo mounts down or seeing if some aluminum mounts are made thinner to make some room.
