Tuskan's TaxReturn G6 Build.

Hello all. Never had a build thread, then again, never bought myself a kit. Always RTR Scx10's. Anywho, some details on the build. Only tax money was spent on everything haha, and here is a list of parts that I got.

Axial Alum. C HUBS and Knuckles
Axial CVD's with crappy pins =/
Robinson hardened tranny gears
Steel wagon wheels.
3racing Winch (freeeeebie)
Jevne battery tray.
FastEddy bearings
Holmes Hobby 27T Torquemaster Pro w/ ESC. (backordered  )

Paint will be PS-12 I think. Tamiya Copper. With some very minor black accents.

Just have a couple photos so far. Also, here is my other basher rig, that I made a cage out of scrap christmas reindeer.

Now onto the couple build photos. Only thing I have gotten completed so far is...
Shocks
Front and rear axles
Wheels and tires.

Heh exactly what I did with part of my tax return $$-- buy a G6 and parts. And a PS4........should be in today or tomorrow.

I got all my parts but electronics. They can't come soon enough! But that's alright. Big snow storm here anyways.

One thing I gotta say, is the speed marine grease is awesome stuff. Makes everything super smooth.

Little update. Got the truck finished. Kinda botched the paint job, but eh, my first ever body that I have painted.

Went with the HobbyKing all metal servo. Does about 260oz @ 6v. Will do great with my HH ESC.

I did a custom mounting of the electronics in the rear. Took two of the battery post spacers, and just drilled 2 holes into the cross member, then just sinched it into place, and is really solid.

The front end. Had to modify my JR tray. Had to hammer down the ends to fit my long batteries. Doesn't really interfere with the tires nor the body.

And here is the finished goods. Thus far. I didn't trim the body too well, and a bunch of stickers are perfectly square, but whatever! It's a crawler not a show car!

It's because I know I messed up :P Some of the paint wrinkled on me, but thankfully stickers cover it up. The copper turned out great. Now I want to disassemble the basher and paint that Yota body.

I did the driveline mod, where you shove a plastic tree post down it. Makes it pretty solid. Just cannot wait to get the HH stuff and shove it in there and break stuff.

very nice build... im waiting for my G6 aswell!

Was worth the wait! It's a great kit.

The shocks are much better than the RTR plastic ones I am so used to. Axial ships with like double the amount of shock oil you'll need. So time to green slime up the basher and refill those empty shocks. Also, stock up on that Speed Marine grease, the whole drivetrain is buttery smooth with the stuff.

Also, running 5 oz on the front tires, and 3 in the rears. Harbor Freight wheel weights are great. Couldn't find a fishing store, so I just went there.

A little update. Even with a browning out electronics (need a BEC) I did some backyard snow romping. Does really good.

With that said, I went and did the Gorilla tape inner front fender wells.

This is how it turned out.

Also trimmed my rock sliders to fit much much better and less intrusive.

AND Installed my winch on the stock bumper. (need a 2 pin extension and deans Y connector to hook it up)

Did a little shakedown on the frozen tundra that is my backyard. Very technical area because of the dogs running around back there, and making an awesome crawl course.

Very happy with the HH ESC and Torquemaster Pro 27T.

Looks like you're crawling on the moon lol gotta love when the snow freezes up! I really like the color of this truck, how is that hobby king servo holding up? The price is just too tempting for me and its definitely on my to buy list.. I like the gorilla tape idea that stuff is uber strong, never seen it used as fenders good ingenuity

Link to the speed marine grease? Or brand name? Or place to buy?

I just go to the auto parts store and pick up some marine grease. it was like $3-4 for a tube that fits in a grease gun. the stuff works great. or you can use white lithium grease and that can be bought at the auto parts store have had luck with both

I was able to form the tape how I wanted around the JV battery tray, holds great and even the snow doesn't effect it.

The new servo is browning out my stuff. It's a fantastic servo. So i slapped my old one on it and it doesn't do it. The HH ESC is more powerful than my AE2, with no BEC. I recommend them HIGHLY. They are cheap and reliable.

Sure thing. TowerHobbies.com | AquaCraft GrimRacer Speed Grease Drive Cable Lube

I like this grease very much. Even with the snow and everything, it holds up very well. Packed both my axles with it too.

Nice build up, rig looks awesome that color. How does the motor/ESC go at slow speeds (crawling)? That's what I was looking at for my rig

Tuskan 03-02-2014 07:42 AM

Very smooth, this combo it's amazing. Never had anything like it. I am so used to the axial stuff
