Default Wanting to tweak

I'm wanting to tweak but SCX10. Right now its stock, but I found a body and wanna make a custom crawler, as my kido will be playing with this one.

I'm wanting to install new links but thought I read somewhere that I can use Traxxs for four link system. Also who makes some stock (steelie) looking wheels?

Check out the wheel line up at RPP Hobby | Radio Controlled Cars, Trucks, Boats, Helis, Planes, Plastic Models. Best service and shipping EVER!!! RC4wd makes some great looking steelie's. Use traxxas revo rod ends(part# 5347), 8/32 all thread and 1/4" brake line to make your own links....

Stupid question but I'm guessing rod ends screw in the brake line and then I got links? Do you use that for all four links (upper and lowers)?
And how do U connect them using the 8/32 all thread?

pretty close;

you screw the allthread into the 1 link, slide the brakeline over the allthread, and then screw the other link on. The brakeline is to make the links slide over rocks etc.

if the holes in the rod ends are too small, you can drill them out a bit.

And yep, you can use it for all the links.

Sweet, I've still got the 3 point set up on it now. Is there any tricks to mounting the links to the axle without buying the 4 link axle mounting bracket?

Also how much long can I stretch out the wheelbase before needing new drive lines, or which longer drive line can I use to increase wheelbase?

I used 1/4" brass tubing from hobby shop..held up great so far. Brake line is expensive. I spent $16 on two packs of Revo ends. $3 on 5 ft of 8/32 all thread. Already had the tap. $6 on 5ft of 1/4" brass...workin good so far..just worried about the malubility of it compared to aluminun and obvious cold steel.

I'm not worried about tubing as I get unlimited stock of stainless steel tubing available to me. And to buy the ends and so forth isn't a issue. I'm needing to find answer to drive shaft question. Will stock drive shafts work with extended wheelbase or do I need a longer drive shaft and if so, what is recommended?

Depends on the wheelbase, really. if you're keeping it around the stock wheelbase (up to 12-13 in ish) then they shouldn't be a problem, depending on the kind of power you are putting in it. Any longer and the contact area between the upper and lower diminishes too much.

I'm sure others will chime in

Thats what I was looking for. I'm doing a one off build which I've yet to see anyone do. This is more for my daughter but I'll be running it as well.

I'm buying the items today to build 4 link system... Can I bend the front links like the rears, or does it effect it at all?

Shouldn't be an issue, as long as you make sure that the bends are perfectly symmetrical. It's mostly to inprove clearance.

be sure to post some pics as you progress!

It's going to be a slow build, as it'll be running and upgraded along the way.

Ok now on to the buld...

This build gonna be called "GETTING SCHOOLED"

It'll show why soon

Ok, so I ordered the body today, bought the materials */32 all thread and Revo ends. I had 1/4 SS 304 tubing at work (freebie), for 4 link. Found a issue. I'm missing the 4 link mount for the axle. So I'm making my own mount.

Stupid question. How do I attach pics during thread?

So the new body came in today. I got the rear 4 link mount built... I'll be posting pics soon, from pre start to current.

Scratch 4 link home made mount. The mount I made hit the frame rails limiting flex. Been working on the skool bus body (masking it off) in perp for painting. Not going to be the normal yellow/black/white.

This for my 6 yr daughter, so PURPLE/WHITE and decals for her. Nothing but the best

4 link mount failure

NEW BODY

Trying to figure out how to mount this, anyone got any suggestions?

It's short by about 2 inches.
That is before cutting of excess. So top mount should work. Don't know why I didn't think about the big rear post support. Thanks

I'm thinking it'll need a roof/hood mount and mounting through bumpers or sides. But think it'll be a little weak with top supports. I have to use the very last holes in body poles to get the clearence needed for body. Any idea how I should go about a side mount or bumper mount in body... I'm not useing stock bumper just the body bumper. I don't mind having to use screws to hold it in, I plan on trying to leave slider rails if possible too.

Forgive the stupidity but built a bracket maybe across the stock height mounting and velcro to the sides or bumper of the new body or are you talking about across roof?

Awesome thanks for advise

After 4-5 hours of masking, the body has gotten it's first coat of paint.

Here is a photo after masking before painting.

First 2 coats of paint applied.

Wait for it, Wait for it.

First color

Replaced window masking and shot second color, few more details and then mounting and wheelin time.
