Only way to tell is to tear into the axle and inspect. It is either the locker or the gears.

Disconnect the driveshafts and if the noise still happens, chances are its in the tranny. And vice versa if the noise stops, more likely the axle(s). As was said, only proper way is to start some disassembly and have a look at all your gears. If you haven't done the bearings in awhile or replaced the stock gears with the hardened versions, it may be a good idea to do so. The stock gears will deform easily with even a heat gun applied to them... found that out the hard way. |

I think I am going to have to buy new gears, its coming from the gears that go from the big gear to the drive shafts so you have motor with a gear on it that is on a big gear, those are not the problem but the ones that come after those. Can I just keep drivin? Or as long as it takes to get the new ones? Cuz il have to order them prob. | |

It's the gears in the tranny then right? the ones that are inside the plastic case. You could keep running it i probably would, but you are going to need new gears, and there is a chance youll burn out the bearings, but a new set is probably $20, you should probably order them with the hardened tranny gears in any case..

So if i buy such a plate thingy why dont i buy one of these? https://store.rc4wd.com/mobile/product.asp?itemid=2463 Is that smart plan? Or nor and why or why not? Anyone has excperience with one? And wich is best to buy if you also look at price? And about these bearings? Why do they go broken? They melt? And wich bearings would you suggest? Edit2: I see alot of people that dont have the plastic cover over their gears that come from the motor an the big gear thing. Why is that? And i think my slippery clutch (is that right how i write it) isnt working it wont just slip motor looses it. And if the engine cant win it how bad is it to keep trottling?
