Default Hello from a new Honcho in the making!

Hi all just thought I'd say hello as I've been lurking a fair bit recently.

I've finally decided to take the Honcho I had shelved some time ago due to other interests.
I've got more time on my hands now so its time I gave this the attention it deserves.. absolutely loving it already!

Honcho details at a glance..

- 4 link truss installed front/rear with the included plastic links but alloys are on their way
- powering this beast is a 60A ESC, 3S 2200mah lipo and a 32T 1200kv brushless
- gear ratio sitting at 87/14 (6.2:1) at the moment
- weights added to wheels are 135gms FR (240gm total wheel weight) and 80gms added to RR (195gms total wheel weight)
- all decals removed and body shell sprayed with a Tamiya Flat Clear (loving the look of this)
- radio box and tranny all stock locations but lipo is in the front, lowered a little and shifted towards the rear somewhat
- weight balance is about 1/2" forward of center
- rear cage has mostly been removed, spare tyre shifted to behind cab

Not sure where I'm heading with this but I am going to enjoy every last little bit it

-Mark

hi guys, I've got a full build thread happening on CrawlANZ website here..
Crawl ANZ - View topic - WA crawlers first scale 2 build and progress

a lot has changed and to see where its ended up take a look through the link and you'll see what I've done to the chassis/body/setup and some of the questions/issues I've had along the way

here's a couple pics if you cant be bothered...

tranny flip, brushless hobbyking motor still in place but that changes to a brushed Holmes Torquemaster Pro 35T

Holmes Hobbies Torquemaster Pro 35T installed...

battery relocation tray installed and new electronics...

shock cap modded traxxas big bores with losi mini-t springs.. home made spring retainers but later changed to JeepinDoug's..

cut sliders to bring them in towards chassis...

rear upper link risers made and playing with the setup...

new body shell and a random flex shot...

RC4wd bumper shortened and brought closer to the body, also shows steering links still Axial's but they've now changed to Vanquish and the highsteer chubs/knuckles..

and how it sits now with some guard trimming needed after installing the Proline Swamper XLs (4.75") which replaced the 4.3" ones.. I did do some lug cutting of the stock flat irons but that was quickly swapped out for a decent Proline set..

I've also just adapted a Wraith swaybar set and made by own bar out of piano wire and have played around with tuning the bar by adding in a notch in the middle to decrease its stiffness..

haven't driven it yet or taken any pics of the final swaybar setup and some of the more recent mods are needing some tweaks to the body shell for clearance and also to correct ride height changes resulting from link angles being played with

I have attended my first comp and came 2nd being only 1 point behind the guy who came 3rd overall in the recent CrawlANZ Australia Nationals.. that was before all the recent mods to tyres, links, sway bar etc so i'm actually pretty pleased with my efforts and also the rigs performance

thanks, the colour is actually a Tamiya "mustard yellow" and so I've appropriately named this rig "Colonel Mustard"
