Chevy - Clod build adventure

Hi folks. This will be my first real attempt at a hard body realistic looking truck. I have the Chevy body and a Dingo kit with some RC4WD steelies and Baja Claws.

Hopefully I can get a nice looking scaler out of this. :-)

Chassis and axles built so I can see where the body will sit. I have marked the edges I need to trim for the large Baja Claws. Should hopefully retain its looks. Just hope I don't mess the body up.

Looks sweet so far I am a big fan of clod body builds ... Like the direction this one is headed

Thanks. :-) Filler... Easy does it with the sanding. This should be fun for a noob! I think I killed a classic to. Says 1987 on the body... 27yrs old?!

Two layers of filler sanded and just added the filler primer to harden it. Not perfect but not bad. Looks better in the photo than it truly is.

Take your time and keep picking at it and be patient my theory is if it looks like it needs a second coat our a little more sanding do it you won't be sorry lol you'll get,,,, It's looking very good for this stage of the build

Thank you. I'll give it a sand with a very fine grit later and the reevaluate. Air bubbles in filler are a annoyance!

very nice chevy, I think that 1987 means the year of body it was made after....you still can get these new today from RPP here....

Ah that's good to know. Hate to think I destroyed something of historic value. I assume it fairly old as it has the Chevy grill not the orrible looking 4x4x4.

You do got one of the older ones. You can get the body though just about any ware but if you have one that has the bowtie grille and the the Chevrolet tailgate them to items are just about impossible to find so they are very very rare

Ah ok. Thanks for the info. More reason to treat this build nice. The wronchero can be used for the more hardcore.

Took a Summit tyre for repair. Took a while and the Chevy aged a little. :-)

Nice build man, are you planning on interior??"thumbsup"

o0wiz0o 03-23-2014 03:26 AM

Thanks. Not initially but I will at some point. I'll need to figure out how to make a clear wind Shield first. The one from RC4wd never seems to be in stock. I think it needs to be in one piece like the stock to give it the rigidity. I did wonder if there was a way to remove the tint off the stocker but I have not seen anything to suggest so.

Lacquer on to protect the Rusty under layer. Next the hair spray and salt. Then top coat.
