Default SCX10 Rebuild

In June 2013 my girlfriend bought me an Axial Rubicon for my birthday. I immediately started thinking about all the possibilities but kept those plans on the back burner because I was working on my Exo at the time.

Well tax time came and I thought, I can either get that trail honcho I've been wanting or upgrade the crap out of the Rubi. I decided on a compromise.

This is the parts list: ....so far. Still need lighting so..

Pro-line Pro-Line Ford F-250 Super Duty Cab Clear Body PRO339200
Pro-line PL-C Floor Pan 12.3” Wheelbase Clear Body for SCX10/Honcho
Pro-Line Interco TSL SX Super Swamper XL 1.9 G8 Rock 1197-14
Pro-Line Rock Crawler Roof Rack PRO604600
Pro-Line Scale Accessory Assortment #2 6045-00
Pro-Line Scale Accessory Assortment #6 6074-00

MIP 10145 Spline Center CVD Kit Axial SCX10
Traxxas Screw Pins 4x13mm w/Threadlock (4) 5189 The MIP's dont come with screw pins so I got these and I'll just dremel off any excess.

Axial Roll Cage Flat Bed SCX10 AX80046
Axial AX30708 Hard Steel Locked Transmission Gear Set
Axial Silicone Shock Bushing 7.5x8mm (6) AXA1356 I like to use these when I use Gmade shocks
Axial exterior Detail Parts Tree - Black AX80038
Axial 1.9 8 Hole Beadlocks AX8087
Axial 1.9 internal wheel weight inserts
Axial AX30547 XR10 1.9 Internal Wheel Weight Ring
Axial heavy duty bevel gears. I think I went with a 36/14 front and rear.

Savox SC-1258TG Digital High Speed Titanium Gear Servo

Boca Bearings RS Econo Power Bearings. Stock ones were shot.

Gmade GM21107 XD Piggyback Shock 93mm

ALUMINUM SKID PLATE

RC4WD 1/10 Warn 9.5CTI Winch
RC4WD Tough Armor Winch Bumper with Grill Guard
RC4WD Tough Armor Side Bars Axial SCX10 chassis
RC4WD Warn 1/10 Wireless Remote/Receiver Winch Controller Set Part Number Z-S1092
RC4WD King Kong Tow Shackles
Vanquish Products Axial SCX 3 Link / CMS / Panhard Conversion Kit for Stock 12.3 WB. Item# VPS06973

Here is part of the spread

painted the wheels with a bronze rub I found at Micheals

Everyone knows what a clear Proline F250 body looks like so I'll just jump ahead. I wanted the accessories to look more scale so I took some dark earth paint and silver rub and used it to give it that worn used look.

I also wanted to make the bed look like it's used daily. That was a little tricky. I started with some rust paint and then some dark earth and lighly added rust here and there.

Here is the body mocked up on the chassis before the electronics and floor pan went in

Here's how the chassis turned out

I had to push the bumper out a good way to get the body to fit how I wanted.

...and mod the front a little too

In the end though I couldn't be happier. Unless of course I could've put some Method wheels on there from Vanquish and a few LED bars. Maybe in a few months. We'll see.

For now.. We ride

At Soldiers Creek park with another member on here, MX4141 on the Honcho, and my son on the Ridgecrest.

I've done some trimming to the body this week to address some rubbing issues. Hopefully I can get some more pics up tomorrow night. That's all I have for now guys. Be sure and drop some comments. Let me know what you guys think.

That's a good looking job on the body . What did you use to paint the front fender flairs? Did you paint them on the outside? I like the matte look of the flairs.

Very nice looking truck. Love the bed and the accessories detailing. Thanks for posting parts list up top, got to go search the floor pan.

Can't wait to see more pics!

I appreciate the comment. A lot of time and patience went into it.

Thanks. I cut the masking on the outside where I wanted to paint and used tamiya flat black. It will chip as the body flexes with bumps and hits but I think it adds to the effect.

Thanks. I picked up the floor pan from RPP Hobby on ebay. They packaged it and the F250 body really well. I don't like that they didn't combine shipping even though they came together, but it was packaged well. They wanted to charge me $19.00 shipping and knocked off $4.00 when I sent and email asking why. Their listings all claim $2.00 each additional item but they sent me a message saying that's only if you buy two of the same item. Only place I've purchased from that does this and I buy a ton of crap from ebay.

But hey, If you're going to buy 2 floor pans from them you'll get a great deal lol.

Good luck with your search.

A few pics from today with my brother in law and my son. I trimmed off a little more from the fenders and got it to where there is no more rubbing.

That's a great looking truck! How do you like the floor pan? I was considering 1 but wasn't sure if they are really effective.

Thanks. I really like the scale look and all the extra space I have to mount stuff. Using the CMS really eats up a lot of space over the axle. With the floor pan I can utilize the space over the side rails for an extra battery for lighting and the winch or whatever I want. I say pick one up. I don't regret it one bit.

Thanks marc. It's been a blast to drive. I may change up the front bumper and probably the shocks but I really enjoy driving this thing. So much fun going slow over obstacles. I've never wanted to drive it more than I do now.
