Arrow Trillo's Jeep JK

Yes, I know another Jeep. Yeah, they're everywhere but hopefully, in the end, this one will be a one of a kind.
This rig started off last year near Christmas when Tower hobbies had it for sale for four days for $299. I had to buy it. My Christmas prezzy to myself

After buying it and testing it, it ended up in my wardrobe as I started doing other stuff. It sat there...

A few months later I saw it (yes, I managed to forget about a brand new SCX10) and pulled out. Charged it up and it didn't go. Back into the wardrobe...

A month later and I saw it again and decided, it need to be used. Pulled it out, greased it up and found why it wouldn't work, it had unbound itself.

After rebinding I started using it. I then decided I should make a build thread. I made one, and then my photos wouldn't work so I deleted it.

So here it is...

Photo Time (Note: It is NOT waterproof)

Completely stock

In Deep...

Must Have Photo (Flexing)

Since then I've changed swapped the driveshaft ends around so the female end is at the bottom (axle end), rebuilt the tranny, taken the spare tire and spare tire carrier off, pushed the bumpers in and put on some stickers.

I have a shopping list coming along but it will be slow because I'm also saving for a Range Rover Classic

Hope you like it,
Trillo

I would change the color of the text to something more readable, I can barely see what you wrote..

Done.

I've just got back from a long bike ride in the Canterbury high country. It was awesome.
I also took my JK.
Here are some photos of it (no, still not waterproof) in Lake Taylor.

Hope you like them.
Were definitely worth the 5 hour car trip

Yeah, I'd love to do that trip again except with others...

Anyway, I'm looking at getting Locked Up RC 1.9 SLW hub compatible hubs.
What hub should I go for, and what restrictions would they give me (as in, any TTC or G6 rules that would stop me)
I'm looking for a wider stance so the choice is between .725s .850s.
I'm currently thinking .725 cause RC4WD has them in stock and I've seen Bender's JK with them on his rig.

Also, is the offset to the SLW hub mount the same on the Vanquish hubs as they are on the Locked Up RC rims.
If not, what hub should I use to get the same offset as .725s as if on Vanquish.
Hope I worded it right

Also, what weights would you recommend to put into my rims?
I'm not 100% sure about putting them on so info and opinions would be helpful.
Thanks

Wow! That was a lot of info! Lol we are really relaxed with our classes. Scale 1 Class, 125mm tire od and under, scale 2 class 126mm and over and comp class (XR10, bergs etc) I have been looking at axle weights over wheel weights, haven't decided yet

Another stock-ish Rubi. I am at the same stage also... thinking about new wheels. Looking at mayhem and rc4wd with some pitbulls... curious what you're going to get.

I was running 1.55" steel stamped beadlocks and 1.55" mickey Thompson claws. Just got some axial 8 shot beadlocks with rc4wd compass 1.9" for a change.

Definitely SLW hub compatible 1.9 rims. Probably Locked Up RC ones.
Tire wise, I'm happy with the Treppies for now as there are better thing I could spend my money on but in the end I'll put Pitbull Rock Beasts on.
They seem to have plenty of people like them.
If I don't get them, I'll get the Pitbull Mad Beasts.
An advantage with them is the OD of 4.65" against 4.45" with the Treppies coming in at 4.6" but the Rockers seem well proven.

Still looking for thoughts one what hub size I should by. This build probably wont start until I know what size I'm getting.

Here is a photo of Bender JK on .725 hubs

(Sorry about the size. Was taken from a screenshot which has been cropped)

Now that I look at that picture again I'm pretty sure it'll be .725s but still open to ideas.

Also, I've seen people swap the spring in their shocks so the short spring is at the bottom and the long one at the top.
Can anyone tell me the reason for this?

Thanks

Took the JK out jor a bash last night.
I'm a bit stressed about stuff so I went out to bash, very little scaling...

And nothing broke!

Very happy with how the SCX10 is performing compared to my old Wraith.
For the driving I do, the only place the Wraith out performs my JK was in deep ruts.

Anyway, here are some photos from last night, sorry, I know the photos aren't great, it was getting dark and my camera's not good in darkness.

Flexing...

Still Flexing

'Splash' No. 1

'Splash' No. 2

'Splash' No. 3

'Splash' No. 4

Bow Wave

All in all I had a great night and took tonnes of photos (although most were underexposed) and had no breakages.

Last night I also thought about what hub I'll get and, it'll be the .725s. I should be ordering soon and this will become more of a build thread rather than a 'photo thread.'

I just need to plan some other things that I'll ship to NZ at the same time (shipping to NZ is expensive) and then it'll be action...

Here are some photos of the truck after the mud had dried

I'm also going to making another oder from Tower Hobbies.
Hopefully it'll include aluminum shock bodies, CC SV3, Springs, Shock Oil (15W) and maybe Foams.

Just a quick Q,
Can someone give me the list of EVERYTHING I'd need to make my own steering links.
Note: I'll only be buying stuff from RC4WD
Cheers

Alright, been a while since an update, so here it is.
I'm going to England for three weeks, and when I'm back, hopefully there will be three boxes on my doorstep

1 from Tower Hobbies
1 from RPP Hobby
1 from Locked Up RC

From Tower, I'm ordering

Supersoft Red Axial Springs
Axial Icon Aluminum Shock Bodies
15W Shock Oil
Robinson Racing 16T 48p Absoulute Pinion Gear (Steel)
Deans Plugs
Axial Exo Light Bezel, Radiator and Fans
Axial SCX10 Steering Upgrade Kit
Duratrax Tire Glue
Futabe 25T 1" Servo Arm (Red)

From RPP I'm ordering

RCC 10 Years Sticker
Vanquish Products .725 hubs (4)

From Locked Up RC I'm ordering

1.9 Iconic SLW Wheels (4)
1.9 Agile Beadlock Ring (4)
4-40 5/16 Socket Head Screws
M2 x 7mm Scale Hex Bolts Multi Coloured Zinc
To ship to NZ once converted to NZD is going to make it about $250 Kiwi.
But, once I've done that, I'll have plenty of stuff to keep me going for a while

Then, this is my list....

Pitbull Mad Beasts (OD of 4.65")
RC4WD Rock Krawler 4 Link
CC SV3
CC BEC
Holmes Hobbies 27T Trailmaster Sport
Savox Waterproof Servo
RC4WD Lightbar Bumper V.2
RC4WD Solid SCX10 Rear Bumper
2S Lipo
Axial Wraith Interior
Mad Skinz Bikini Top
Vanquish Stage 1 Kit
Vanquish CMS Kit
CVDs
ScalerFab Rock Sliders
RC4WD Mickey Thompson M/T End Caps
ETC....

And in the end I'll replace the Locked Up RC rims with Vanquish KMC 1.9s

Now my shopping list has been made, it's time for the update...

Well, firstly, I'd like to thanks Axial for making their electronics so water resistant.
I was driving 'The JK' down a stream near our house and I accidentally found a DEEP hole.
I had water about halfway up the windscreen and I was getting stuck.
Although I only just got out, the electrics were fine.
THANK YOU
I had good fun, just flattening the battery before recharging.

Any way, when I got home, I found that lots of grasses had been in the stream and were now tangled in everything.
Another update soon but I got to do some work
