Metal Roll Cages
 

Hey guys so i just bought a brazed metal roll cage bed for my honcho. it attaches to the frame and also holds the cab in place.
My question is do the metal cages break easier than the stock honcho plastic bed ones? The plastic ones bend so they don't break easy, but the metal ones are very stiff so might they break easier since any bend might break the weld?

I think that all depends on the material used as well as the quality of the work. That said, I have had a few of my 8+ pound trucks take some drops and tumbles and have never broken a brazed joint or bent my 3/16 tubing.

Like said above, it all depends on the quality of the work. I made my first bedcage for my honcho not to long ago and it has been taking a beating. I also used a welder though, I did not braze the tubes together. Its all in good fun, If you do end up breaking something you just have to braze it back up! "thumbsup"

Should I keep my stock bed or seal it to get some money. I highly doubt I will be going back to it though

That's your call. Keep it for a while and if you don't feel like you're going to use it, sell it off.


A properly done weld/braze joint will be much stronger than the steel rod itself.
