|  Shapeways 3d printed portal axles, knuckles, t-case, axle housing for scx10
Was on shapeways and came across some scx10 parts. I mean it seemed only a matter of time before people made 3d printed parts. I know monkeyracer is a vendor here and makes some sweet 3d printed parts. Just wanted to share stuff I came across. Wonder how well they hold up. 1. scx10 CHUBs to use wraith/xr10 knuckles. Seems to take out the axle housing mod work for the xr10/wraith steering mod. Theres 2 versions by 2 different people. C-Hub for Axial SCX10 with XR10 knuckles + CVD by hoffy on Shapeways Axial SCX C-hub left side V2 by chimeraa on Shapeways 2. Portal axle add ons for scx10 axles. Portal Axle - Axial AX10, SCX10, 4x4x2 by ale-x-treme on Shapeways 3. Narrow scx10 axle housing. Narrows it by 1" overall AXIAL SCX narrow axle case without servo mount by hoffy on Shapeways 4. T-case using axial gears transfer case for Axial SCX skid and gears by hoffy on Shapeways Interesting pieces to be honest. Transfer case is cool, but its incomplete, you figure there'd be a GRU or front tranny mount of some sort. |

The portals would be great for my unimog but damn,I put a beating on that truck and I wonder if they would hold up? Definatly need more info on these. I don't have deep pockets to try them out but if somebody else tries them please post up.

hoffy has a post I think in general crawlers talking about this. He has the axle housings and the transfer case printed already.

yeah i saw that after a google search. nothing ever seem to come of it, dont think he picked up a vendor star or anything.

I believe he just received the axle cases and trans is getting printed now. Nice to see people thinking outside the box.

I just ordered the portals. Will be here may 13. Ordered all the guts too. I will try to keep an update here. So far it is $200+. I actually plan on bringing these to a local CNC for aluminum reproduction.

Whats your intial thoughts on the pieces? Do they seem solid? This is not the place I would want to use 3d printed parts bc I am very hard on every rig I own. Buuuuut........ I want portals! |

Dang this looks interesting..I never thought that someone would be making 3d printed parts..let's just hope that they can hold up like aluminum can or there not gonna be very good if...you bash the hell out of your rigs lol.

out of all of that stuff I think the lay down trans case is the most usefull imo. anything that lowers center of gravity...

I haven't ran them yet. I been slowly ordering parts. So far they haven't been on the cheap side. VP cvd's, bearings, 5mm shafting,shims, 32p gears, Traxxas stub axles,hardware But so far they seem solid. |

Can you model the portal box to bolt to a wraith knuckle? If so I'll order a set and make a parts list. Being a portal lover, I've always wanted a set. |

I just getting started in all of this and the addiction is growing. I can't wait to hear the longevity of these parts. Would be crazy to think about getting a 3D printer and being able to do a lot of this..
