Default Upper Links on a G6 Kit?

Does anyone know if there is a full upper link replacement kit for the G6 kit? I just got the kit together and want to replace the junk upper plastic links.

Many make their own links. I used push rods from my Revo and they worked perfect on my SCX10 rubicon, you can find them cheap in ebay too.

No link kit!

Same lengths as the jeep or honcho front uppers!

Check the 12.3" link kit instructions for the parts. You may want to use a 5mm longer post to tilt the pinion angle a little so the axle drive shaft is a little more online. ...

R2J makes a kit. It's like $36.00. They're made out of stainless with revo rod ends. R2J is a vendor on here so you can find him pretty easy.

Made some upper links for the g6 using 1/4' brake line, revo rod ends, and 8-32 allthread and some spray paint I had on the shelf. Cut the all thread at 95mm and the brake line at 78.5mm. The fit really well with no change to driveshaft angle. Total cost was under 10 bucks!

I'm a complete been to this so please pardon my lack of knowledge. What is the advantage of metal uppers as opposed to the plastic that comes with the kit?

As you apply torque to the axles, the pinion angle will rotate or increase/decrease the tilt. With metal links, you're making it a solid connection from the frame to the axle and reducing deflection like what the plastic links do.

With solid upper links, your front axle will maintain its caster that you have adjusted it to, as well as saving your driveshaft joints and transferring the energy from the motor straight to the ring and pinion. Thus improving the performance and making it feel more planted.

Appreciate the wisdom lentsnh2012. I'm in the process of buying/build the recon g6 kit and trying to get as many functional parts as possible to build a reliable rig.

R2J Kustoms, Vanquish Products and other vendors offer custom length links or ready to go link kits for all of the Axial line.

Do you know off hand the size for the uppers on the g6 kit? I haven't even purchased the kit yet so I don't have the instructions as reference.

I sure don't, sorry. Hopefully someone else can chime in and help you out. If you need to know it now, it might not hurt to search for the information on Google or here on RCC.

Once you find the length, I usually add a few millimeters to the length, so that, the pinion angle is angled up more to relieve a little more stress on the driveshafts and allow the lower links to slide over the obstacles instead of the driveshaft.

Thanks a bunch. I'll look around and figure it out so I can have parts on hand during my build.

I used 1/4 tubing witch you can use aluminum or stainless tubing. Then I used 8-32 allthread ran through the tubing and used traxxas rod ends. Very easy

I/you should add that you used Traxxas REVO rod ends. All others will be too small.
