I am making my own custom links for my axial scx10 and was going to do an allthread through a piece of 1/4" aluminum tube. Where is the best or cheapest place to get 1/4" aluminum tubbing? Thanks |

Aluminum will gouge into the obstacle. A harder metal will be better such as, Stainless Steel. | |

I have always used brake line from the auto store. A 5 foot piece will give you plenty for top and bottom links as well as steering links. I have made links for racing clodbusters to crawlers and have always had good luck. And it is cheap material to work with. But I suppose you could go with stainless if you wanted to.

I used brass tubing..slides pretty well ..not the strongest far as dents..but works fine. I'm probably gonna use solid stock 3/16 turned down then tapped 8/32 once these get pretty hammered. Sent from a whiskey downer beer pounder's shop |

Just standard brake line. The stuff they carry now is coated in something.. If you look at my posting of my rubicon you can see the links I made. I don't run my trucks in water.. So I can't answer the rust question..

The coating on it will scratch but as for dents.. I don't believe I have ever dented any links.. But I suppose it's all in how you drive or crash..lol.. But the line is cheap so just make a few spares and if anything happens just throw a new link in.. I keep a journal on my trucks and write the lengths down that I cut so if I ever need a replacement I can pull my notes out and make another. It is a lot stronger than the stock plastic links and I figure the truck would break the mounts way before a link goes.

Yes 8-32 with Revo rod ends. I ran a tap through the rod end to make putting the ends on easier.
