Default OneBadHoncho Build Thread

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum but not the rc world. Ive had a countless amount of cars all different types but I got out of the hobby about a year ago. I decided I wanted to get back in by building a SCX10 jeep rubicon. I hope to have it done by june, depending on what i decide to go electronics wise. So far the only thing i've got is the dick cepek beadlock wheels from RC4WD. Darn do these things look Sick!

Stay tuned, and watch the beast come to life.

Well i caved in and bought a rtr rubicon at the hobby shop with a 2s lipo and a charger. I like how it is, the rear body pins are a pain to get out though.
I had some questions too, how do you guys with the jeep body with the top on have your body pins set up? All pics taken with my 5S.

Easy little trick for the rear pins is to drill a hole on the other side of the body post so instead of putting the clip into the back you can put it in the side.

I use needle nose pliers to take the body clip off from the rear.

On my Honcho...i tied a piece of string to my clips and it is alot easier! Function over form!

You can sorta see the yellow string in this pic. I know its harder on the Jeep bodies though.

Congrats on the purchase and have fun with it! Good to see another Idahoan on here! As far as the body pin goes, I have the Rubicon kit and it came with the little pull tabs you can attach to the body pins, makes it easier to pull off. Don't know if yours came with any extra parts trees or not.

Alright guys my RC4WD 100mm shocks came in today and my trailer hitch.. (not the best fit so i didn't put it on. Here are some comparison pics.. im wanting to run it when i get some 2.2s and some other stuff to give it a totally differnet look and makeover.
Before anything:

1 shock installed

front done:

and all of them done:

And with the rubicon body on:

Got some proline super swamper 1.9s and axial 8 hole beadlocks today. what a big difference a tire makes in crawling! still can't decide what i want to do next...

I took it out on a pretty intense course this weekend with some friends a couple times.... she took a beating. Nothing seems to be broken, but the truck is leaning a little bit to the side and the shocks dont seem to spring all the way up. Heres some pics:

I looked at the shocks and they all seem straight, hmmm....
On the bright side I got a new motor and esc setup. Castle creations sidewinder 3 with a 35t integy motor. I think it's time to step up to a 3s lipo.....

The big Chevy body looks tough! I see the little Jeep bumpers don't fit anymore. I used the Shield Winch front bumper on my F250 Proline body and it fits like a glove. The flat bottom of your body will fit on top of the flat top of that bumper for a very solid feel, its like almost having a third body mount on my truck.

Very nice ;)

Looks like the rtr's that have recently left the assembly line now include the tactic servo!
