Whats a good weight to shoot for? Im pushing 7lbs and it feels like my truck is a bit too heavy. It crawls awesome and I beat all my buds, its just on really steep inclines it feels too heavy like gravity is out doing traction

At 7lbs you are in the normal range for a scx-10. My SCX-10 JK is right at 7.5 lbs. Steep grades with loose surfaces can be a challenge for most rigs. You might want to look at tuning the wheel weights if you have weighted wheels or upgrading tires/foams. |

Get some rear upperlink risers to correct the rear upper link geometry.

Ive weighed in at 6.24lbs fully balanced with 14oz's of weight in the wheels combined and a few aluminum upgrades. Anti Squat brackets will help you up a hill and improve overall incline capabilities 2 maybe 3 degrees with traction over not having them. They help with keeping the front suspension from unloading which gives you less traction up front and more chance of flipping over.. Overdrive front or Underdrive rear gear will help you get up a hill also...slowing the rear or speeding up the front aids in less flip overs..Will help with turning also. COG is also important to hill climbs. Last edited by 6sharky9; 04-29-2014 at 05:33 PM. |

Wow, faster front wheels than rear is a great idea. How do you do that? Different gearing in the axle?

Axial sells both underdrive and overdrive ring and pinion gear sets If you have a dedicated crawler most tend to use both sets for a dramatic difference...If you have a trail truck/rig you don't want that as the rear will drag on you with any sort of speed on a trail...You can go either overdrive in the front and leave the rear stock..or go underdrive in the rear and leave the front stock. Stock is 38/13 front and rear Underdrive is 43/13 Overdrive is 36/14 Last edited by 6sharky9; 04-29-2014 at 06:57 PM. | |
