| Too Much Body Roll, help!
I have way too much body roll and the body will tip and sway with the slightest breeze. When going forward under its own power, the truck will lean hard to the drivers side and come back a little and actually stay leaned over. I know its from torque twist but the truck should level out I would think. And it even does it with the body off, not as pronounced but still there. My setup is as follows: 4-linked rear, 3-link front with panhard bar and RC4WD CMS, RC4WD 100mm Superlift internal sprung shocks with a little 50wt in them, springs in them that came with them. Battery mounted low just ahead of the motor. Shocks are inverted so the boots are up top (scale appearance). The rear shocks sit at about 1/2 droop, and the front sit at a little over 3/4 droop. I don't want a fully sprung shock setup 12mm wheel wideners at all corners. Esc mounted on drivers side with waterproof traxxas rx box mounted on passenger side above rock sliders. I'll get some pics up too but any ideas?

It sounds like your shocks spring rate are just too weak and can't hold the truck in place. You could make a sway bar system but then you would have less flexibility. Change out the shocks with something/anything different and see if that is where your problem lies. Pretty sure it is the shocks. |

your springs are way too weak/soft to control the vehicle...

^^ the spring rate is most probably too lite and the oil viscosity too heavy. I run 100mm traxxas big bores Losi soft (white) 2.75" (#5147) 3 hole piston - 20 wt my rig is near abouts 8lbs. many CO's could be run oil free and still support the rig properly. The spring rate controls ride height... the oil thickness controls suspension articulation speeds. Too thick of oil viscosity and often a weaker coil spring cannot return the CO back to it's desired position. I pre-load my driver's rear CO slightly more to compensate some for the chassis torque twist. remove your CO's and check to see that they travel easily/smoothly... try using a lighter viscosity oil or even none. then note what changes occur ! |

His shocks aren't normal shocks taco. And oil weight doesn't matter. They just run a drop or two. So there's no need to put up a pic of springs for normal shocks. Their internally sprung.... But any way *Scionizer07* I run a set of RC4WD's ultimate scale shocks. They're also internally sprung. Plus I have a GearHead shock relocation kit so that made body roll worse. What I did to help mine was I found four retractable "or click" pens that were just alike. I took out the springs of the pens. I then took the springs out of the shocks. I stretched the ink pen springs as long as the shock springs. I then stretched them both a little more. I then slid the two springs inside one another.I put the springs back it the shocks and it was harder to put the cap on because I stretched the springs but that was the point. And they now work fine.... |
