Default My New SCX10 Deadbolt

I finally got it yesterday!! Now I just have to install all my goodies! HH 13t Crawlmaster sport, Hot Racing shocks, Axial aluminum links and charge up the new 3s lipo and I'll be ready to go. I'll post pictures as I put in the upgrades.

OK. So I don't have it yet as it is still on back order, but I did get some goodies in the mail for it today and now I just have to wait to install these. And wait...and wait...

YES! Thanks for the info. I cancelled my backorder from Tower Hobbies and reordered from CKRCCrawlers and within an hour of placing my order I received and email saying it already shipped!! And it was $5 cheaper than my discount through Tower.

My order status says that my Deadbolt is being prepped for shipping from Tower. Hopefully it will be here by the weekend.

Thanks for the tip on the shocks. Now I won't have to test all the spings out.

Try Vortex Hobbies or Superstition Hobbies. Neither one of them say they are on back order.

Opinions please. Should I run the stock Treps and rims, Proline 1.9 Super Swamper XL's on Axial 8-hole satin chrome beadlocks or Proline 2.2 Flat Irons on black Proline Titus beadlocks?

I think the 1.9 tsls would look great they are also superb traction tires for most any terrain. I run the standard 1.9 tsls on my scx10 scale rig.

My first recommendation with these shocks is to unscrew the bottom cap and take 1 of the 2 O-rings out. You'll find the action to be much smoother. With both O-rings installed you'll find that the shock sticks in the position that it was left in. I also lined the inside of the shock body with a little shock oil just to allow the plastic shock piston to slide up/down more easily.

My son is running the Deadbolt body on his SCX-10 with 2.2 Axial beadlocks and 2.2 Rip Saws. I really think this body needs 2.2's so my vote is for either the 2.2 Flat Irons (4.84") or 1.9 TSL's (4.75). The RipSaws shown below are a whopping 5.375".

Nice, Have you tried out the stock ESC. I am curious how well it works, Doses the Drag brake hold well. I am trying to figure out if I want a deadbolt or Kit.

Thanks,

Thanks for the tips. I already had loosened the bottom caps and put a little oil in them and they were still sticking, so thanks for the o-ring idea. I'll have to try that after work tomorrow.

no problem. I made the mistake of cutting the springs for droop (my first shock purchase). don't do that! never cut the springs!

I haven't had it out crawling yet, but it stops on a dime set at 100%. I haven't tried it yet at 50% or have I put in a 3s lipo yet. This is my second SCX10, but I'm still figuring things out. If you a newbie like me, get the deadbolt. If you've been around the block and would like more drag brake options, get the kit and pick out your own esc.

So I chose to go with the 1.9 TSL XL's.

Got all the aluminum links and shocks put on and installed the HH CrawlMaster, now all I have left is to move the battery tray up front and run some lights and that will be good for now until I run into some more money.

looks great with the tsl's....Once I order mine I have the tsl's but not the XL's, so I am hoping they will look ok.

I got my shocks all figured out thanks to DowntownScience and I also ran it around the yard on 3s and it's a beast with the HH Crawlmaster. There is an over abundance of torque and I'm going to have to gear it down a little bit. Goes a little too fast for my taste at cruising speed. Hopefully I'll be able to get out this weekend to put it to the test and post up more pictures.
