Default SCX10 JK ride height

So, my JK build is about 98% complete. I'm running Pro Line scaler shocks on my JK, but I don't the ride height on it. I have the shorter ends on the scaler shocks, but I'm running the longer gray spring, with the shorter black spring. I have the top of the shocks mounted on the inside set of holes, on the shock hoops (front and rear). My shock spring adjuster nuts are all the way up.
Should I try running the shorter gray spring, instead of the longer gray spring on the shocks? Will this give me considerably more droop?
Anything else I should try?

I haven't taken it out for a run yet, but I know it's going to be top heavy, due to how high the ride height is currently. Not to mention, it looks kinda funky like it is now!!! LOL!!!

Here's a pic of how it's currently sitting.

Any help or input would be greatly appreciated!!!

Not familiar with these shocks but they say 90 - 95 mm. Adjust so that they're closer to 90. Use the shorter springs. Probably give you some droop. Can you get the body down any further?

The shock length is approximately 92mm, measured eyelet to eyelet. 40wt. shock oil in all 4 shocks.

40 is pretty stiff for the weight of these trucks. I was 30 front 35 rear and just recently went to 20/25 respectively with softer springs all the way around.

I'm thinking either trying the longer spring that comes with the shocks, but without the secondary (short, black) spring. Or, going with the shorter spring primary spring and using the secondary spring.
I'm thinking I have way too much "spring" using the longer primary spring with the shorter black secondary spring.

Too much spring will definitely keep you up there with 40 wt.

Try the single long spring.

I have my Tekin RS Gen 2, rx, and CC BEC mounted in the rear. I'm running a Jevne brick plate in the front, so my 2s lipo will be sitting low, behind the front axle. 4 link in the rear, and 3 link with panhard in the front.

Are you suggesting that I go with a little lower oil weight, along with changing out the springs?

Does your truck settle at all when you place it on a surface? The sprung weight of the truck should be able to compress the shock slightly at rest.

Yes. My setup is very similar.

It settles slightly, hardly any at all. It does a little more in the rear, than up front. That has to do with there being a bit more weight in the rear, with the spare tire and electronics. I have a spare of the same Motoworx wheel and Pitbull Mad Beast that's shown in the pic.

What oil weight do you recommend I try first? 35 rear / 30 front?

Is that pic loaded ready to drive? It is sitting pretty high...Shorter spring would help some, the oil weight won't really affect the ride height much.

Everything except the lipo, which doesn't lower it that much.

Ty, what oil weight are you running? I know oil weight isn't supposed to affect ride height, but if 40 wt. front and rear is too much, I can go a little lower.

the longer grey springs are supposed to be run by themselves with out the smaller black helper spring on there, you definitely have too much spring. short grey with short black or just use the longer single grey spring by itself.

Just use a droop kit. That freaking simple.

I'm going to try the short gray spring with short black spring first. I'm going to leave the shock oil at 40wt., for the time being. I'll get my droop sorted out, then tackle my dampening.

Thanks for all of the input!!!

You could do that but I think you'd really start to see what that oil is doing in your shocks if you went 20 front 25 rear. You don't have much sprung weight which is what is pushing down on your springs at all times. If you're too heavy with the oil then I noticed that the weight of the truck isn't even enough to get full compression when flexing. Instead your wheels lift.

I think I went 35 front and rear, helped it not sway so bad or want to roll on off camber stuff. The Icons are small diameter so thicker oil is needed to make it more rigid. I have ECX shocks on my Bronco and put 40wt in them and it feels much better than it did with 25wt.

Ok guys!! I put the shorter gray springs on with the short black springs. I had to adjust the pre-load collars down in the rear, so it didn't droop as much. I think it looks a ton better!!!
Let me know what you think!
