Default The scx10 monster truck build.

We'll, after reading up on these trucks for quite some time now I decided to build one myself. I used to love my clod buster, so I'm pretty excited about this. I'm running a scx10 chassis, ax10 chassis plates, mated to some ar60's using CPE wheel adapters. So far this is what I have! I will take more pics as I go. I started snapping pictures late into the build.

Holy crap..that's big. How is the driveshaft going to be able to work? That sits kinda high, you may want sway bars or something.

The transmission sits in the lower portion of the ax10 chassis. So it's almost like it's at a normal pitch. I'll take detailed pictures to show you. Considering the suspension is fairly tight, the track with so wide, and the trans fairly low . I think it should be decent without sway bars.

I give you a "10" for originality and another "10" for ingenuity. Hope you can get some weight down low to lower the CG, like a couple of 2S packs on each side mounted real low. Good luck with it.

Thanks a lot! Great motivation, I will post more detailed pictures tonight. Unfortunately I snapped my 3mm tap I use to thread the links. So I'm sort of on hold until a new ones comes in the mail. I can't wait to do some more work to her.

Front suspension, and axle attached.

A lot more flex than I was anticipating. Pretty cool

Ahhhh and a Wraith skid to boot!
Looks good.
Looks like the moving the links in the rear did the trick.
How much power you planning on throwing in there?

Yes sir! Shortening, and moving them down fixed the problem. Thanks for all the tips! Power for now will be a velineon motor, and hobbywing esc. Lol nothing special at all, But will put down decent power and spin those big tires no problem.

Ok, I am really interested in this. I am considering a Monster Truck build as well. An I am tossed between going with a Old School look with the SCX frame or more modern with the tube Wraith Chassis.

I have always wondered how well the 1/8 scale grave digger body would fit the wraith cage.

Funny you would say that. I am thinking the 1/10 scale Grave Digger body since that's the scale of SCX an Clodbuster tires.

Also my 1/10 scale Cherokee body fits over the Wraith chassis nicely, suggesting that the same would be true for the 1/10 Grave Digger body an the wraith chassis.

I have just always liked to look of the 1/8 scale grave digger body with clod tires. The Cherokees body fits but the front of the grave digger body might not clear the front wraith tube work since the hood is narrow. That would be pretty easy to deal with though. Make sure you let us know what you come up with.

Calderwood: Good Point on the narrow front hood. Hmm, I may want to find a broke up donor body to test with first. I will def PM you when I finally start the build thread. Probably late sept is when I will start something, as I currently have a 1/5 scale gas rc on my radar now.

To the OP, was there ever any running video's of your SCX based rig? How did it perform?
