No name build thread. (pic heavy)

Well I figured it was time to make a build thread for my first crawler. The plan is the keep the stock electronics as long as I can, and replace them as they go bad. So for now it is all exterior stuff.

It started its life as a RTR Trail honcho.

First thing I did besides taking most of the stickers off was to make a bracket to raise the front bumper up.
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...ps8369209a.jpg

After that I used some 8/32 all thread and 1/4" brake line to make up some custom lower links.
http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...ps6f40d9be.jpg

I ended up not using the front links and bought an Axial steering link kit.

After that my first big move was the Pro Line Ford superduty body.

That was painted with Tamiya gun metal paint with a backing layer of black. When I bought the body I also bought a set of Dingo front and rear bumpers.

http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...ps0a0104c6.jpg

Very soon after that I got a set of Proline TSL XL tires from a member on here. Paired those with some Crawler innovations deuces wild closed cell foam and Axial 8 hole bead locks.

Then came the Dinky bed side kit.

And at the same time I changed the rear bumper to a poison spyder rear from the JK. And added the red tow shackles.

As of right now this is how is sits. I have a 3racing winch that is waiting to get put on after I get a controller for it.

I really like the bed sides, I had to do a lot of trimming to clear the XL tires but it still looks good. And I would love to run headlights in the body but just dont have the skill to make light buckets that would look good in them.

The interior is on my list to go in it. As soon as I get my winch all sorted out. And im not sure what driver I want to put in it.

well... you could replace the head with a helmet-less Tamiya Guy figure
or any other doll head that will affix.

I think so too...
I've put Ole' Willy's in a bunch of my rc's over the years...
Willy looks less cartoonish... if your paint skillz are up to it.

sadly... mine are not.

But I did go back and paint in some shadowing on 'is face...
and I think he looks more serious and less cartoonish.

Tho' the helmet may look somewhat over-sized...
IMO... it's better then the "Pin-Head" look I see on some driver figures.

Been a while since I updated this. I changed my mind and ended up scoring a new C/R wrangler body off a member. So I trimmed my honcho bumper, mounted the body got the lights all hooked up and also got a nice soft to with the body.
