Default Crazy Question

Ok, going off the wall again here, anybody try a "big"out runner on their SCX10? I toom some measurements of an E-Flite Power 15 outrunner and it looks like if I put the shaft out the motor mount side, I should be able to mount it in an old AX10 motor plate (mine started as a Scorpion) and use a 5mm pinion on it with a Sidewinder 3 ESC and a good 3s pack.

Here's the motor;.

E-flite Power 15 Brushless Outrunner Motor, 950Kv (EFLM4015A) | Horizon Hobby - Radio Control R/C Planes, RC Airplanes, RC Helis and Helicopters, RC Cars, RC Trucks, RC Truggys, RC Boats, RC Radios, RC Engines, parts, hop-ups, and accessories

Why, that's cheap reliable torque that I can easily aquire through work (I work for my LHS), I am expecting to eventually need to replace the axle shafts, trans internals, and rings and pinions in it (already have MIP CVD's on it.) It's kind of an experiment too, kinda curious how carried away I can get with this before things start getting really ugly. Even if this doesn't work in this application, I am paying off a layaway on a Traxxas Telluride to make another trail rig out of and this might work nicely for that, even if it's a bust in the SCX10.

Electric Motors>Outrunners by size>35 to 44mm
Actually, my even considering this is JRH's fault

Reason I'm looking at the E-Flite Motor/SV3 combo is that I work someplace I can easily get it (it's not a hot seller for us and we have one on the shelf right now!), so I could take a caliper to it and get some measurements of that compared a current Axial 55t we also have in stock. We have some "gold can" outrunners that look like those in stock too, I just didn't really look at those since I wanted something that would bolt to my factory AX10 Scorpion motor plate, and they're a fairly new product for me in the store.

Thanks

Guess i misunderstood the OP. According to the specs, its 35mm OD which is normal width. 50mm long, again within specs. What isn't mentioned, in the 5 minutes I looked, is the "bolt pattern" (I can't think of the actual term) I think standard is 25mm.
Point being, not sure if it will bolt up to the stock motor plate on the tranny.
I'm intrigued by outrunners for the smoothness, but dissuaded because of the lack of waterproofing.

So far as I can tell, the bolt spacing should be about the same, actually, the biggest concern will be if the lock collar on the mount/stationary side of the motor will fit through the center hole, they look close at least
