I sprayed mine with Tamiya's silver and it matched the body really well.

for all you stating you used Tamiya silver...
Please be more specific.

Tamiya offers at least 3 different shades of met. silver.
so which one did you use ?

I used PS41 Brilliant Silver (Met.)
but depending on how many coats are applied...
can slightly alter the hue/tinge.
Backing it with another color could alter that even more so.

The factory paint was likely mixed in larger amounts
and then applied using an airbrush/sprayer.
So a perfect match from a rattle can... could be difficult
unless it were applied in the same manner and coat thickness.

My Honcho's factory RTR met. silver had a slight bluish hue/tinge to it.
and the PS41 seems a slightly lighter shade of met. silver.
And doesn't seem to have the same bluish hue/tinge.
But it was fairly close and unnoticeable to the average eye.

But it could just be my particular production run was slightly different...
as later model Axial kits using a met. silver do not seem have the same
bluish hue/tinge to it.

Possibly Axial used different mixes
applied during different production runs ? :dunno:

Because it can be difficult to get a perfect match...
I opted to start fresh, with a new body and Dinky bedsides.

I like the PS41
and IMO seems to be the closest match to the original factory silver RTR paint.

But I would strongly suggest applying it to a sample piece
before applying as a permanent application.
