Default SCX10 Honcho 4 links upgrade

Hi...

I got a used SCX10 Honcho; which was upgraded to aluminum lower links (Front, Rear), both rear & front lower links (the upgraded ones) are the same length (91mmx6mm).

Reading over Axial web site, this should be done for dingo not honcho, is that right?

and if I want to upgrade to 4 links, what length should I use for both front & rear (lower & upper).

Thanks,

My front lowers are 98mm, rear lowers are 106mm, and rear uppers are 98mm.

Thanks,

I have a question, I see most people do the 4 links only for rear, and leave the front with the 3 links setup, is there an advantage behind that?

I don't know about most, I have 3 SCX-10's and have gone four link up front. Maybe you're looking at rigs that are CMS equipped? I had trouble with the single leg of the Y pulling out so I changed them all.

There is a lot of slop in the 3 link, so swapping out for the four link gets rid of the axel rotation that happens every time you start or stop. It's a wise upgrade!

I just changed the front over on my SCX10 to 4 link. Like ilg said, it took out a lot of slop up front. Wish it wouldn't have taken me so long to change it over...

I also have a question regarding links, I currently have a SCX10 Dingo (short wheelbase) but want to switch the front stock plastic y-link to some upgraded aluminium ones, but the most I see are for the honcho etc. (long wheelbase).
Are only the rear links different in length or also the front links between the SCX10 short and long wheelbase?

On a Dingo the lower links are 91mm, and the uppers are 60mm for the 3 link, 80mm for the 4 link.

Thanks all for the contribution...

I have been watching videos over Youtube, and found one that gives links length for both Dingo & Honcho; as follows:
Honch & Dingo (Front lengths are common for both)
  • front lower links ( 6x91 or 6x98 ); the 98 lengths gives more clearance advantage
  • front upper links ( 7x60 )
Dingo (Back lengths):
  • back lower links ( 6x91 or 6x98 )
  • back upper links ( 7x60 )

Honcho (Back lengths):
  • Back lower links ( 6X106 )
  • back upper links ( 7x60 + 7x20 )

Well, it depends on the wheelbase you want. Now of course you could do a short wheel base which is the dingo or the longer wheelbase is the honcho, but those axial links are ok although vanquish makes the best things..just saying.

On my second SCX10 now, this thread has gotten me interested in converting to four link up front on at least one of them to see how I like it. Both are short (Dingo) WB rigs. What would I need to convert the front upper Y to individual links? I take it the servo plate will need to be replaced and just an upper truss? The slop that you guys talk about with the three link has become quite annoying at times.

I have that strc plate and links and I like it, much more than the 3 link which, as discussed, has it's problems

Good deal, just trying to find out what I need to order before I start this project. So far looks like I'm going with Level3 RC center link mount and shim the servo plate if need be.
