You could keep it stock forever...

as long as you never operate it

I like stockers, they run great, hardly break anything, and they make it up obsticles that the heavy, built cralwers stuggle with. The hop ups remind me of fishing lures, better for catching your green than fish.

True, lexan stock trucks are light weight and can get over most things better than a more scale looking built truck. This is why in sorcca competions scale looking built trucks get a "scale points" handicap. However. stock electronics and steering do leave something to be desired..

1st order of business was to pull the tires and give it the one over. Once that was done it was time to move the battery behind the shock tower and the electronics to the back.

Cool non-project project idear IMO. I kept my SCX10 Jeep Rubicon RTR mostly stock (I changed the tires/wheels a time or three ;) ) for better than a year (but fixing to upgrade to aluminum links and steering...the stock parts have flexed so many times they're ready to snap,LOL!).

Question about the SXC10 Deadbolt...what are the (if any?) mechanical differences between it and the Honcho/Jeep RTR's? For $300 shipped (before any discount codes) on Tower, was thinking hard about adding a 2nd SCX10 to the stable (to build an XJ Cherokee from, the same way I'd build my 1:1 XJ if funds permitted ;) ). Thanks in advance

Whatever you're smoking you should stop before the rest of your brain drips out of your nose.

New waterproof speed controller that is rated for 3s, metal gear steering servo and double slipper clutch transmission.. there's a few threads about this somewhere and you can check it out on axial's website, I believe the new falken has the new stuff too.

It has a 27 turn motor and 32 pitch 13/56 gearing. The G-6 rigs come with this i am not sure about the other RTR rigs.

IMO ...the only real improvement lay with the drive shafts.
double bitch ends while sharing a single male shaft

But those aren't enough to make me drool.

The original drive shafts can be easily be beefed up...
and would have less rotational mass then the newer design.

the advantage of the new DS design is that...
with the double female ends...
the males splines will see less carnage.

I wanted to see how far i could push the front bumper mounts in to help with the approach angle. Pulled the bolts out and just drilled some new holes. Seemed to push everything in about 3/8 of an inch.

Those aren't stock springs.

the male shaft has to slide into the female
when the suspension is compressed.

A sleeve over the male shaft, if too long
could hinder suspension movement.
but otherwise may offer some protection.
link to the pics

I've seen where folk turn the DS 180
so the female is attached at the axle's pinion output
and the male end to the transmission.

only real issue might be that sediment and water can be trapped
inside the female side of the DS when it is inverted.

^ wonder about this arrangement on the Deadbolt's set up as well.
I'd prolly keep an eye on the lower female slug for any build up.

If the shafts do not slip into each other easily...
then they could impair the suspension's compression/extension.

The Deadbolt comes with a single spring.

The springs are stock. I am just trying to make simple changes to the stock set up to see how much it improves the rig for my type of driving.

Basically lower the COG improve the approach and departure angles. I wish the radio had a third channel with a 3 position switch. Later i plan to put a servo winch hidden under the body.

Also thinking about cutting another piece of delrin and using it for a front bumper. Just to see how it would help my approach angle.

Looking good so far, I agree a stock rig is nice to have. Even though some people are willing to put 2,000 into an scx10 and yes I'm one of them lol but keep up the good work!
