All the answers you seek can be found in these two threads, or by searching...

How to do the narrow XR10 mod to Axial axles

Steering Improvements

In the process of doing the narrow XR mod myself. Using brass 1/8" X 3" MIP fittings from the hardware store to make my own beef tubes. Most buy them from the various vendors here making them ready to go. I personally like building things, so figured I'd give them a shot on my own.

Another couple threads by HPIguy and MRCrackhead describing the process of doing the "long XR mod" for a 2.2 sportsman build, using the same supplies and a spare Wraith housing for the chub splines. Same axle and tech, different rig and purpose...

Cheap SOB Crawler Build

Does anyone know what length axle shafts work with the wide tubes (CTBM) mounted in a rear axle? I've searched and scanned many threads only to see some say long side XR(117mm) and other say short side XR shafts(110mm). The XR shafts are out of stock online and I don't really want buy 2 packages anyway. Maybe a custom axle vendor could help me out with the correct pair that I need. I don't have variable offset wheels so I don't want to make up the difference that way.

Again, WIDE tubes and SCX lockouts = 1xx mm length axles.

Thanks much!

I've pondered the same about rear shafts and lockouts. I'm currently doing the narrow version of the XR mod, but could appreciate a matched f/r track width without using wideners or SLW's. Never found a definitive answer, so I'm moving forward with just the front for now.

You answered your own questions......
2x XR10 long side or a custom shaft from a vendor.
