| Castle Sidewinder ESC settings?
I just got my motor so I am putting my electronics in the truck now. I connected the ESC to my computer and did the basic settings like brushed motor and lipo cut-off. Do I need to change any other settings? Do you run drag brake with crawlers, if so how much? |

I run my sidewinder sv3 on the 100 setting works great and the truck doesn't want to flip when you let go of the throttle like it would on the 213 percent option. You might like less drag but for crawling you definitely want drag set

I agree with simpscx10. I ran 213% drag for a bit, and it works well, but my scaler is quick! I can see the full drag brake working well in a dedicated slow crawler, but for scaling with some speed I wanted it a little softer. I think I'm running 150% now, might tone it down a little more. Change to suit your liking. That goes for all the settings, play with them and see what you prefer.

Wow, that's alot of drag brake! For now I have it set to zero. I took it out for a drive before and it seemed fine. It stopped on the top of a hill, didn't roll back at all. I'm guessing that's due to the locked diffs? Anyway, I guess I'll put some drag brake on and see how I like that. |

you will find when crawling down steep sections it is better to have to use throttle to speed up then brake to slow down or crawling up steep stuff not have to worry about losing ground by rolling backwards but for mashing around no drag is fun just more work when you are crawling

I always set my drag brake to full power. Even on a trail rig you will still end up doing some technical stuff eventually and that is when you'll wish you had that brake.
