extended wheel base Q&A

Ok so I am thinking about stretching out my scx10. So I can use a extended cab truck body and some lift as well so I can get that mall crawler look. If anybody has already done this and had good/bar/horrible results please let me know. if it is really more trouble than its worth that would be nice to know as well.

Re: extended wheel base Q&A

I have extended one of my good friends Honcho to accept an SC10
body. The rewards were surprising to say the least. You will have to move the shocks and lengthen the rear links. This also will open up
a few more body options. The ONLY downsides to doing this is that lowers your break over angle a fraction and you'll have to find longer driveshafts. His is equipped with Junfac, they are long enough to successfully do the stretch. This is also a good time to improve your pinion angle.It's not much of a concern since he can climb hills steeper than my nearly identical SCX10 cannot. It can climb with the group Wraith. His truck is a climbing machine. Why haven't you started the process?

Re: extended wheel base Q&A

you should first start with offering more explicit detail...
regarding what you have and what you want that to be.
...as many of us are not very good mind readers.

what wheel base do you have currently...
and what wheel base do you would wish to extend to ?

Axial has established/mfgr's these 3 wheel bases...

11.4" = Dingo, 2dr jeep

12.0" = G6 jeep, Deadbolt

12.3" = Trail Honcho, 4dr jeep unlimited

are you looking to extend longer then 12.3" ?

Many body mfgr's offer bodies that
are designed to fit a specific wheel base measurement.

otherwise a body may need be extended using craft.
easy with styrene... not so with poly or lexan bodies.

if you could offer more detail...
as to what your current specifications are...
it will make it easier for others to help.

Re: extended wheel base Q&A

Probably 90% of the people have either shortened or lengthened the wheel base on their scx10.
That said there are tons of build threads in this section with that exact setup. A friend of mine did this one. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial...-honcho-7.html

Re: extended wheel base Q&A

I have lengthened my Honcho from 12.3 to 13.3 inches to accept my Proline raptor body. What I did is drill another two holes to relocate the rear suspension assembly in order to align with the rear axle and the body post will be able to attach to the bed instead inside the cab of the body.

The 4 links have been lengthened, and use a much longer drive shaft. So far my body still need some touch up so I can't tell the difference in performance yet.

Ok,I started out with the Rubicon kit. The rig already has Wraith link's in the back . I am wanting to make a rig similar to the Silverado Rivas concepts rc excursion #95 there's a silver Silverado that looks sweet.
