Default Holes in front axle

After building my kit, I noticed there are 4 holes on the top of the front axle. Are these completely open? Does dirt get into the axle that way? Should I put 4 short screws into there to seal it up?

The four holes (two on either side) are to be used with the 4 link truss that comes with the kit/RTR. If you want to keep it 3 linked, you can use 8 3mm set screws or very short panhead screws to plug up the holes. Either will work.

I'd rather 4 link it but I'm not sure what I need for that.

Everything should be in the extra parts bag for you to convert over to 4 link. Check your manual to see where the parts will be and what parts you need.

You'll still need screws for holding that 4-link truss on. These may work:
Axial 2.6x6mm Self Tapping Button Head Screws (Black) (10) [AXIA0422] | Radio Control - A Main Hobbies
If those aren't right then refer to the manual for the rear axle and then get the proper screws. Also don't forget about the screw that holds the upper links in.

Wrong screws- Those are to hold on Wraith/EXO body panels.

3mmx8 machine thread screws are the correct screws to use for the truss; The screw to hold the upper links to the truss is probably a 3mmx16-20 (can't remember)and of course locknuts.

I have seen people use grub screws to fill in the holes without having to add ugly hardware to the axle. Of course this would only be if you decided to keep the 3 link setup.

Yeah I thought it was the wrong screw, I couldn't exactly remember the correct screw.

A 4 link setup will give me more flex?

So everything I need to convert to 4 link is included in the kit? So I take out the Y-link and install the plastic links?

Correct. A 4 link setup will allow the axle to move about more freely while also adding more durability compared to the Y-link upper link.

Exactly, all of the links should be in the extra parts bag; follow the manual's instructions on how to get it done.

Fair warning, if you DON'T have aluminum lower links installed, the plastic links will become like wet noodles after a few hours of driving. However, if you DO have aluminum lower links, this shouldn't be as big of a problem.

If you're using the crappy stock links then gets some 8/32 allthread and some 1/4 stainless steel tubing I believe and some revo rods ends..boom you have your own links that are cheap and strong.

I have the kit, so I have some aluminum links already. The rear 4 link is plastic and the front Y is plastic.

Good deal.

Basically just replicate how the rear axle 4 link was put together; same parts too.

I just looked through my extra parts and I don't see the part that the links screw into. I used it for the 4 link rear. Are they supposed to give you another one to use in the front?

I use the same part I used in the rear? If so, they only give me one in the kit.

The kit should include a extra 4 link truss, all of my rigs have came with them..maybe you should look harder lol or it got misplaced...

Wish my kit came with an extra 4 link truss...apparently I'm the only one with a JK kit that didn't get one? Oh well, CMS/panhard/3 link in progress. No need now.

Nope, I don't see it.

In the manual, the rear uses #80043 parts tree and #3 off of that, which is the truss. They only give you one of those parts trees, so would the other truss just be loose in the parts bags?

It possibly could be. It is the same exact truss as the rear, so it will be a familiar sight when you see it.

If you cannot find one, Axial may be able to help if you get in touch with them. The other alternative is to put up a wanted ad in the Wanted sub- forum and see if any member has one laying around.
