Default front wheels surging at low throttle

When I hold my scx in air and run throttle at very low speeds the back wheels turn super slow and the front wheels kinda surge like almost pulse they stop then jump ahead then stop then jump ahead I hope this makes sense I made sure the notches on drive shafts lined up anything else I could try? Should I open up the front differential and take a look maybe I screwed up when I originally assembled it

Compress the front suspension and try it again. Odds are the driveline is near its max operating angle.

Are you running different driveshafts or longer shocks? The best way to make that stop is clocking the axle forward with a spacer in the links just a little bit (that's only if you're using aluminum links). Now say if you have aftermarket shocks then anything over..100mm can cause the driveline to bind a little bit. (Yes I've had it happen to me until I bought a droop kit). On my scx10 jeep I have 120mm shocks and even on a droop kit it made everything bind so I got a long threaded grub screw and put a spacer in the upper links..this stopped the binding and made the driveshafts turn at a much better angle (however I hate the ride height with those shocks and will be changing them out very soon).

For the driveshaft's, there's actually 4 points that need to match, not just the two notches on the shaft. The other two points are the pins in the couplers.

Both the couplers and the notches should all be aligned with each other.

Sounds like your gear mesh is incorrect, make sure your pinion bearings are pressed all the way into the housing. If they are not, it will make the ring and pinion mesh to tight which will be noisy and notchy when running it.

Driveshaft phasing. Make sure the pins in the joint are lined up the same as well as the notches on the shafts
