Default Needing custom build opinions

Hey guys I'm doing a custom build. I'd like to replicate an old stepside chevy but I'm wanting a mud racer to. I thought about using a k2-3L chassis but it looked to thin and easily bendable.. so I'm thinking about using an axial Scx10 chassis with wraith axles and a proline chevy body but I'm wanting to run leafs.. can anybody help with that?

To get the truck to look like the first pic, I would use scx axles and 1.9 Tsl's in xl flavor. Clod body, not sure about the step side though.

Mud racer- SCX axles, trans, Clod body, and RC4WD Mud Bashers (rice and cane copies...) mounted on a narrow wheel.

I was Guna use wraiths Cuz what mud truck do you see with the tractor tires inside the fender wells? You don't Cuz they are to big and you need the width to turn

It's largely dependent on which body you want to use. Ever seen the width difference between a Clod sized body and Wraith axle? Better yet, you ever seen what 5.5" tall 2.2s look like under a Clod body with Wraith axles? If you're shooting for the larger Savage XL or T/E-Maxx bodies Wraith axles will probably be just about right. I am currently piling parts for a Ranger based mud rig to tow behind my Mog when completed. The Ranger body itself is around 6.5" wide, 9.5" wheelbase, and 16" long. In my case, SCX10 axles on 1.9 Mud Bashers will fit the bill perfectly. Plans are- Tamiya Land Freeder body (Ranger copy), some sort of mega truck inspired TVP chassis for simplicity, an SCX10 trans with RRP steel gears, VXL on 3s, LOTS of fender cutting to mimic the race style 1:1 mega trucks, and a 2" wheelbase stretch (11.5" final WB).
