Default What to keep in inventory?

I bought a RTR Rubicon about two weeks ago and have only broken a rear driveshaft so far. I like to keep spare parts on hand so in case I do break something I can fix it on the spot. With that said what all parts should I keep on hand? I already have on order new C hubs and outer hubs along with a spare spur gear. Anything else you can recommend?

if something plastic breaks, upgrade to aluminum and you won't need to keep spares (until you find the next weak link in the chain)

i always carry extra drive shafts, c hubs, and electronics with me. i have a spare servo, esc, and motor just in case. also good to carry extra screws of various size and especially a couple extra grub screws.

A friend bought a Rubicon the same time I bought mine and he has already broken one of the C hubs. What would cause one of those to break so quick. It is all stock except for a set of 2.2 tires.

could be a number of factors really. taller tires which are heavier than stock, too much binding the front end if he was getting stuck and trying to goose it out going WOT, heavy impact... the list goes on and on. i've had both my trucks for about 8 months now and havent managed to break anything yet. things like that just happen though. metal parts are of course stronger but cost more. you can adjust your budget or adjust your driving style. up to you really.

keep the 1.9's and youll be fine. Check out the Dudley thread, these things are pretty reliable. I've had great luck with mine. I don't keep any spares on hand but if you broke your driveshaft you should keep an upgraded one (such as the ones that come with the new deadbolt or g6 falken) on hand as they are stronger. could possibly pick up a cheap take off set from ebay. I would imagine aside from that your biggest failure will be from water (seized bearings, burnt servo/receiver) or from a screw falling out on the trail, which is the only thing that has happened to me

Make sure any screws going into metal have blue locktite on them. And do get a stainless steel hardware kit like marcb527 suggested. They hold a lot stronger than the stock screws. And as Richterat83 suggested, replace plastic parts with aluminum as they break. I'm still replacing a lot of plastic in my rig now because the shit sure doesn't hold up to 4s power.

Holy crap. . .4s. That's crazy. Crazy awesome. I can't imagine.
I've had my G6 kit for about 3 months. I haven't broke anything except a plastic stock servo horn. I upgraded it. I just bring the usual; Allen wrenches and plenty of spare screws and nuts.

Maybe an extra locker if your running stock. They wear out.

if yer running stock plastic junk...
add these to your collection...

a spare set of C-hubs/S-knuckles *
and kingpin screws/flanges

a spare set of transmission gears *

spare drive shaft parts (universal pins, attachment screws, etc)
or maybe just have a complete spare drive shaft on hand.

* upgraded alloy and steel components...
will reduce your spare parts collection.

having multitudes of assorted spare screws/nuts, including oddball specialty hardware,
can save yer bacon..
~I replaced all the self tapping wood screws
with machined 3mm screws of the appropriate lengths
~
^ threads tighter and is less likely to back out.

Don't forget to that some Traxxas and RC4WD ball ends if you have upgraded links.
