RTR or Kit? Which electronics for kit?

I am about to purchase my first true crawler. I was going to get a rtr but now i'm considering a kit. I am looking at the Jeep Wrangler G6 kit or the Deadbolt RTR. I have a Traxxas tx/rx I can use so I will just need Esc, Motor and servo for the kit. What would be good WATERPROOF choices for these?

Would you guys go rtr or kit? I'm sure most will say kit but I don't want to spend to much money up front.

Do a kit, Spend the money up front. If you go the cheaper route you will end up spending it upgrading in the long run anyways. Below are some great electronic options.

Holmes Hobbies TorqueMaster BR-XL Electronic Speed Control (Water Proof)

HOLMES HOBBIES TORQUE MASTER EXPERT MOTORS (35T)

Castle Creations 1/10 SV3 Sidewinder 12V ESC Waterproof

Tekin HD FXR ESC Crawler Combo 35T Motor

The deadbolt is a nice rtr for the price. With that being said, IMO get the g6 kit, I know its the same price as the deadbolt w/o the electronics.......but you get the metal links/steering links, really nice shocks and the fun of building.

On the cheap side for a servo I would go with the solar D772 from hobbypartz <$20 not waterproof though

Holmes Hobbies BR-XL waterproof $109.99
and a crawlmaster expert 13t $45.00

Now if you go the deadbolt route you will eventually want to upgrade so it's just a matter of when. Also another cheap route would be the hobbywing quicrun 1060 esc which is waterproof and <$25 ordered from china, and it isn't a bad esc at all for the price

Cheers,
Wade

I am the odd ball here but I reused my AR7010 Rx and my dx9 tx that I had for my quadcopter. I have my winch on a 3 way switch and head lights and flood lights on another 3 way switch. Lights off then head lights and the head and flood lights. The extra channels and switches will come in handy if I add a dig or rear steering
