Body scratches I just finished my first kit (Jeep Rubicon) and I'm pretty proud of my final product. Now, with only 2 runs and 2 roll over later, the body already show some scratches. I tried different methods (sanding, buffing, Dremel polishing wheel) and products (dental paste, lens refinishing kit) and nothing gives a satisfying result. Do you keep a body for show and another for trail? Does the scratches are part of the game? |
Re: Body scratches Show?? What is that?? Deal with it, scratches are a part of the game.... |
Re: Body scratches Yeah, that's... gonna happen. If having an immaculate shell is important to you, it would probably be easier to just keep one that never leaves the house, because I can't imagine how much time it'd take to micro-mesh the scratches I get after a couple-of-hour long run. |
Re: Body scratches Don't worry about scratches. You'll have 100's and 1000's in a week if you actually drive your rig. |
Re: Body scratches Did you custom paint it or is it stock color.. My silver stock paint JK is scratched up but does not show too bad unless you look up close. I would imagine darker colors show scratches worse than lighter color. |
Re: Body scratches Trail rash are badges of honor, wear em with pride! |
Re: Body scratches ^Agreed! |
Re: Body scratches they all turn into scratched up junk after awhile, it does hurt scratching the new body up though. but like others said they are badges of honor lol |
Re: Body scratches Paint on the inside is so out of style.... Paint it silver on the inside, your choice of color on the outside, and embrace the rock rash! :ror: http://i315.photobucket.com/albums/l...j/IMG_6205.jpg |
Re: Body scratches I like your truck, but I find that rock rashes fits better with the older bodies (like yours) than newer models like the Rubicon. On yours, it adds realism. |
Re: Body scratches I prefer the two body method. One for show and one for go. |
Re: Body scratches A body without scratches? What's that? I haven't even driven my new G6 build yet and I've noticed a scratch or 2. It's inevitable. |
Re: Body scratches Don't let your OCD get the best of you bud, I've been there. It's meant for having fun with and no need to get grey hairs over a couple of rollovers. |
Re: Body scratches Maybe yer looking at it too closely. if ya back off 10 ft or so... you'll see less scratches !? Lol I have two... I keep the scuffed up RTR body as back up. Scratches should be expected, likely embraced. might as well roll your best... 'cuz any given day... could be your last nothing is forever ;-) http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/...ps148c6880.jpg http://i1191.photobucket.com/albums/...ps07095e49.jpg |
Re: Body scratches When you get your new rig done admire your newly finished crawler. Then take it out and have fun with it. Then you wil constantly want to improve its performance. If the scratches bother you you may want to build another rig just for show. Then it snowballs out of control. |
Re: Body scratches I literally finish painting a body...go outside throw it on the ground a few times then off I go....no worries no regrets. Have fun....who cares what your body or rig looks like. Sent from a whiskey downer beer pounder's shop |
Re: Body scratches I like earning my scratches. Reminds me of where I've been. |
Re: Body scratches Eh, scratches happen:roll: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...s/IMG_0625.jpg Some just have better stories than others:shock::ror:"thumbsup" http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...HaveSucked.jpg |

Re: Body scratches LOL 666, the original front axle case on that Blue TJ bodied Wheely King was starting to grind through like that when I scored new axles with lockouts on one and MIP/RCP CVD's on the other. |
